Director: Ben Affleck
Writer: Ben Affleck and Aaron Stockard
Cast: Morgan Freeman, Casey Affleck, Ed Harris, Michelle Monaghan
Plot: Based on Dennis Lehane's novel of the same title, "Gone, Baby, Gone" is a story about a two detectives in search of a 4 year old girl that has been kidnapped in Boston. This will be Ben Affleck's directorial debut, also adapting this screenplay himself from the author of "Mystic River."
Release Date: October
Good for Ben Affleck. I feel for actors who act in shitty films, so why not try directing? Plus, I predict this will be Casey Affleck's break out performance, along with The Assassination of Jesse James. And apparently Mirmax viewed the film in New York and loved it.

It might be alright.

anybody seen this yet? i went and saw last saturday with my wife. i thought it was very well done, extremely grim but pretty thought provoking. my wife got pretty upset by some of it, but commented to me the following day that she thought it was a good movie because she was still thinking about it.
interested to hear other opinions.

The trailer looks pretty good, but I have a question. If this is by the same author (book, not movie) of Mystic River, does that guy specialize in child kidnaps? It just seems a bit weird to me that someone would write Mystic River and this, because I can really see a lot of one in the other.

it is the same author, Dennis LeHane. i haven't read any of his books but you are correct in that they are somewhat thematically similar. i believe most of his books are based in Boston so that is another similarity. however, where Mystic River was more of a straight forward murder mystery, this has a second element of kind of a morality play.
overall though i would say if you liked Mystic River, you will like this. i actually think i liked it a little more.

Hey, I just got back from seeing this movie. Kinda surprising Ben Affleck's name is attached to it. I thought it was very well done. It really paints the picture of how fucked this world is. Had a question about what people thought about some of the decisions made but can't post cause it will spoil. So I recommend everyone to see it, dark but good movie.

i mean, the guy who headed the search for the girl has her the entire fucking time, and nobody knows about it? really? ohh ... i get it, he was 'hiding upstate.' bullshit. it's completely unreal. the entire movie is cool and believable and then they pull that shit. then on top of it, his girlfriend is a fucking loser about it.

I watched this tonight. I thought it was really good. Ben Affleck did a great job directing and the cast was very strong. I also thought that the twist might have been a little preposterous, but it worked inside the movie if you know what I mean. I thought the gf might have been a little extreme in her response and I'm not sure I found that very believable.
