When did they re-record songs the songs like Wash, Alone, Dirty Frank, and all the rest?

Did they do it before the album came out, or just old alternate copies that were just lying around?

they are supposed to just be alternate takes, they said that no tracks were rerecorded, though some of the vocals sound like recent ed, mostly alone

they said no songs were re-recorded...just bandaids applied...this doesn't mean that vocals only (alone?) or harmonica solos (footsteps) weren't re-recorded...admittedly, the harmonica can be seen as a bandaid, but re-recorded vocals are more like an ace bandage...anyway, no one entire song was re-recorded...

Just to confirm the always accurate ds:

From Rumor Pit 56:

"Q: Have any songs been re-recorded in the studio just for Lost Dogs?
A: Just a couple of band-aids applied."

U sounds much nicer on the Wishlist single (in my opinion). Same goes for the versions of Down and Undone on the I Am Mine Australian single. They should have left well enough alone!

wash is the mother of the new mixes
dirty frank and alone are shite
the harmonica in the mix of footsteps is too synthetic for sure

other than that one of the best collections ever id say.

I agree that some of the band-aids applied to the "lost dogs" tracks were maybe borderline overkill. I really liked the original Footsteps, why?, because it was THAT version that made me fall in love with the song. Same goes for Drifting, I personally liked the original x-mass single version with Ed doing his best country&western impression. On the lost dogs version he sounds too much... like himself. (yeah, I just wrote that)
But that's just me.
What do you think?

Is there a resource that lists where the tracks from Lost Dogs come from? I'm not at home or I'd check my disc sleeve...

I think it's on TSIS's song archive.

Yep, in the song book. Click the "information" link on one of the songs.

I was just listening to disc 2 on Real Rhaspody, and as track 15 -[before 4/20/02]- it has Angel listed. Are there versions of LD with Angel hidden on it or is this just some error?

Thanks

When the track list was leaked before the album came out Angel was on there but then when the comercials started to air it was not. I think they decided to pull that one at the last minute.

I really like it, and it would have been nice to have it be included. But thanks to modern technology I can still listen to it whenever I want.
