Buried unceremoniously in an article about the projects & shenanigans of Universal execs Marc Shmuger and David Linde is a reference to a fourth Jason Bourne movie:
Quote:
More recently, Shmuger and Linde landed Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon for a fourth "Bourne" movie, even though the director and star seemed ready to wrap it up after three pics.
...says THIS ARTICLE in Variety.
We'd previously heard rumblings that fourth installment in the franchise was feasible. But, unless I REALLY missed something along the way, this is the first solid indication we've had that the project is coming together.
This news should turn many folks I know into gooey geysers of splooge, and assures that The Age of The Shakeycam will not soon fade. Thank god for that! (rolls eyes)

How about the Bourne Redundancy?

I agree here. As well made as The Bourne Ultimatum was, I felt it really didn't offer up anything that hadn't already been done in Supremacy (which I loved). it's hard to complain though since I love Paul Greengrass and the movies are smart and exceptionally well made. The storylines are getting stale, though.

i wouldn't mind them delving into the relationship with julia stiles' character that was allude to in ultimatum. there really is no need for a 4th, but i trust greengrass and damon not to take a big shit on what they both know is an excellent franchise.
Universal moves ahead with 'Bourne' George Nolfi to pen fourth installment of series
Universal is moving ahead with its fourth installment of "The Bourne Identity" series, setting George Nolfi to write the script.
Nolfi was co-writer of the third film, which was based on a story by Tony Gilroy.
Though the series is based on the Robert Ludlum novels, the new film won't be based on a Ludlum title, but rather an original story.
Studio toppers Marc Shmuger, David Linde and Donna Langley are making the continuation of the Bourne franchise a top priority in their effort to mount tentpoles, and they've secured director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon to attach themselves to a new film (Variety, February 22, 2008).
Pic will be produced by Frank Marshall and exec produced by Jeffrey Weiner and Henry Morrison.
The studio intended to stop at the third installment, but the film grossed $227 million domestically and $215 million overseas.

aha! so the movie studio just wants money.
i thought it ended well enough as it was. who knows, maybe it'll be decent, but what's left to do/say? as it's been said already, the plots are running thin.

The end in the 3rd was really perfect.

The thing is, even if it ended well, they're bound to make a crappy one because they know people will still watch them until there's a real stinker.

Was anybody else unimpressed by the car chase scene in the last Bourne movie? It was good, but I was told by numerous people that it cost $X million or whatever and was supposed to set a new standard in movie car chases. It held my attention but it didn't make me go 'whoa.'
That said I really enjoy this series so I'll probably be a sucker for this movie too. Even though he's Matt Damon, I've had a dude crush on him since I saw Rounders.
The deal locks in their right to move ahead with a fourth 'Bourne' film which Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass have signed on for and are ready for a Summer 2010 release.

Is this the one where Apollo Creed dies and Rocky takes out his vengeance on the Russian?
