A new season of South Park is always quite the event at our house. Already ordered dinner and then the drinking and smoking begin. very excited. Plus the Family Guy episode is on before the new one. Still the best show on TV and has been that way for 8 years.
South Park really hit a stride about 5 years ago and it's just never let go of that. I kind of dismissed it after the first few seasons because, although it could be clever, more often than not it reveled in being offensive...which was fine, but often made it predictable.
My brother made me watch a few episodes of season 9, and I've been totally hooked since. Brilliant writing in this show.

the only thing i can't stand about this show are the episodes that have cartman acting remorseful for something he did...and the piano/"pretty, introspective" music plays...and then at teh end of the episode he just goes "haha, i didn't mean it" or whatever. i dunno, that shit got old. i love the political and satirical messages though.

The early episodes definitely don't hold up very well but it's hard to find any early shows of great programs that do. They've been flawless for about 7 years though and don't seem to ever miss a beat.
BTW, i smell a Spitzer mock next week. I bet they would have done it this week but the news didn't come fast enough. Another reason why this show kicks ass. They can make fun of current events without having to wait 6 months.

Ugh, it just reminded about how much I hate Jimmy Buffett

Wow, that was fucking hilarious.
Of course, I've always held pretty much the same exact theory about HIV, money and Magic Johnson, so that helped.
