For years i have listened to pearl jam, seen many shows, bought many cds, and was at one point a big fan. I used to believe that pearl jam advocated for equal rights of all races and religions. However, pearl jam's recent tour has given me reason to believe otherwise. As a Jew i am deeply offended that the band would publicly support Michael Moore (a democratic propogandist, not to mention democratic puppet), who is among other things is anti-Israel, and quite anti-Semetic. When i first heard about Pearl Jam's support for such a liberal tool, i felt ashamed, and let down by the band.
I ended up on the pearl jam website to check it out, and to attempt to contact someone who could comment on behalf of the band, as i was in disbelief. In doing so i came across the Alternative News Sources page, in which listed other 'alternative' sources for news, which for me added fuel to the fire so to speak. Listed among the 'alternative sources' were the works of Noam Chompsky, who completely denies Israel's right to exist, and is another avid anti-Semite.
It upsets me greatly, as my grandparents saw all there family, friends and relitives killed at the hands of the Nazi party, for what? so they can continue to be ridiculed, i will not stand for that! Jews have done so much to advance civil liberties in this country, yet that goes unrecognized. For example. several Jews played instrumental roles in the famous case of the Chicago Seven. Yet these efforts go virtually un-recognized by many democratic hopefulls.
At one point in history the vast majority of American Jews were favourably democratic, as they believed in the social values that the party outlinned. However, as of late, the Democrats have become increasingly anti-Israel, and anti-Semetic, leaving Jews in a tough situation. A situation where in which Jews have been increasingly voting for Republicans, not because they agree with there conservate view, but rather because they are left with little choice. The Democratic party has betrayed the Jews nationwide, the same people who helped advance thier cause, they turned thier back on. What has the world come to?

He's got a point, but it's the neocons these guys are against, and their sole reason for being against neocons is the continual zionism expressed by said... neocons.
And Chomsky is pretty anti-semetic. If you think dissolving Israel falls under that category, then, yeah.
Now a days if I was to say I don't like bagels some idiot would say I am anti-semetic! That being said I know people who had their houses and land and olive groves and the such stolen from Palestine and renamed in the name of Israel.
Dude if you think you were hard done by. Take a long look in the mirror as to what the Jews are doing in their supposed home land. Nothing any better or worse then what Hitler did. You are only one step above because you aren't gassing them you are mowing them down with auto-matic weapons.
1940 you sure learned one thing and that was how to oppress. Call me what you will but until you can admit what you are doing is wrong. You will always toss the anti-semetic word around like people actually care. The world felt for you back once upon a time. Now they feel for another oppressed people. You turn has come and gone.
that is an obsurd comment, by clearly someone who is misinformed. those comments are the basis for anti-Semitism, and offensive!
"Israel is a state comprising primarily refugees and thier decendants ecercising thier right to self-determination. Beginning in the 1880s, the Jews who moved to what is now Israel were refugees escaping the oppresive anti-Semitism of colonial Europe and the Muslim States of the Middle East and North Africa... the Jewish refugees were escaping from the countries that has oppresed them for centuries."
"The Palestine to which the European Jews of the First Aliyah immigrated was vastly underpopulated, and the land onto which the Jews moved was, in fact, bought primarily from absentee landlords and real estate speculators"
E/F? how can u say that
its shit like that that makes me sick to my stomach
It is the Arab population which has targeted civilian populations (unlawfully), they use tactics such as using civilians as shields to protect themselves. The Israeli army has followed international laws accordingly by only targeting military targets in defence. Whereas, the arabs aim at women, children, the young, the elderly.
Another thing, Israel was created as a state to protect the Jews from the oppresion they were facing. Unable to practice thier religion, beaten or killed for being jewish in a muslim state.
The leader of the Arab world at the time The Grand Mafti Husseini, was also just as bad as Osama Bin Laden today. He shared the same views as Hitler, and they exchanged notes on how to exterminate the Jewish population.

I guess the thread went into a different direction as to the one set by the original question, but...
Personally, I have troubles following the simple logic that if you support someone in their given cause - like electing a different president than the US has now - and this someone has a certain view on some subject (not relating to the cause, or at least not directly relating to the cause), then you must share exactly the same view on the subject.
Other than supporting Michel Moore, is there any more 'evidence' for Pearl Jam being anti-semitic?

You are equating "pro-Palestinians" with "anti-Semetism" and quite frankly, that's not just wrong, it's hideously misinformed.
I'm all for the formation of a Palestinian state, but I'm certainly not anti-Semetic. I believe, and I venture to say all reasonable people believe that there should be two states, co-existing peacefully side-by-side. Israel and Palestine.
Now. If that means that Israel has to withdraw from certain settlements like the Gaza strip and the West Bank, then so be it. It's called compromise, and there's plenty of it to be done on both sides. Doesn't mean it's anti-Semetic.
You make us sound like architects of the Third Reich.

i think we are all in favour of a two state solution, except the palestinans who rejected a generous offer Ehud Barak. Which would have given th palestinians a state with its capital in Jerusalem, control over the temple mount, a return of approximately 95 percent of the west bank, all of the Gaza strip, and a $30 billion compensation package.
I am not equating Anti-Semitism to Pro-Palestine at all. It is however anti-Semitic to claim that the Jews stole the land from the Palastinians and have oppresed them.

No, that is history and that is an opinion. You must be anti-world then if you believe that the Jews had a right to displace that many people. I would hazard that as the Jews in Poland, Germany, etc. that the land titles and deeds that Palestinian people still hold to this day where Jews now live and have taken over and renamed towns mean nothing. Are they forged? Did the evil UN make these deeds up? You will still be crying anti-semetics when you are forced to pay reparations for something you think you didn't do. Isn't that what most of the Germans said too? We didn't do any wrong.

no it's not. That's an opinion. You don't have to hate Jews to think that they might have oppressed someone. And PJ aren't anti-semetic. That's the dumbest thing that I've heard on this board...

And they say history never repeats itself.
Bingo.
If I were to come to your house with an AK, tell you and your kids to fuck off, move my wife and kids in and shoot at you everytime you tried to re enter your house, my guess is you'd want to kill me.
This is exactly what has been happening ever since 1967.
Get your facts straight. A good, non-partisan primer right here:

Israel is a country.
The Jews are a people.
Just as you can be opposed to the U.S. Government without being Anti-American, you can be opposed to Israel without being Anti-Semetic.
