Saw this last week, and have watched it three times already. I'm totally blown away. This is epic, one of the best docs I've ever seen. I need to start carrying a camera with me.

Wait, nobody's seen this?
Quote:
Tracks the tumultuous rise of two talented musicians, Anton Newcombe, leader of the Brian Jonestown Massacre; and Courtney Taylor, leader of the Dandy Warhols; dissecting their star-crossed friendship and bitter rivalry. Both are hell-bent on staging a self-proclaimed revolution of the music industry. Through their loves and obsessions, gigs and recordings, arrests and death threats, uppers and downers--and ultimately to their chance at a piece of the profit-driven music business--how each handles his stab at success is where the relationship frays and burns. Great doc, very entertaining. I imagine I would like it a lot more if I were a fan of either band. As it stands, I kind of hate the Dandy Warhols and I am completely indifferent to the BJM.
Anton Newcombe is fucking insane. I wonder what he's up to now.

The BJM are always on tour. I saw them last year. $20 for 2 solid hours of good music. And yeah, the film is great. That scene with Anton on rollerblades handing out vinyl copies of his new single is great.

I've owned this for a while but I've only watched it a couple of times. I second what plat said in this thread, but the doc did make me interested in the BJM, though I guess I never really followed up on that.
i got around to downloading all the BJM and DW albums, i really like a lot of the Dandy Warhol stuff. songs like Neitzche and Godless are cool. wish they'd do more stuff like that.
the BJM stuff just sound like the same song over and over. i think claims in the movie that he is some super genius is a bit exagerated. apparently the newest albums are more prog rock, but i didnt get that far.

the whole band minus the BRMC guy is back with the band now after they had all left at one point. I wonder if he is allowed to see his kid yet.
