I don't think I have a single interest in any event here. The football still has those lame Olympic age rules I guess.

You'll probably find some of the protests interesting. I'm imagining something is going to do down. If I'm a Chinese dissident, this is the event I've been waiting my whole life for. Although they'll probably all be rounded up and put in jail for the duration of the event.

I just read that the yellow one is supposed to be a Tibetan antelope. I cannot believe the balls on these people.

Like the Five Olympic Rings from which they draw their color and inspiration, Fuwa will serve as the Official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, carrying a message of friendship and peace -- and good wishes from China -- to children all over the world.

Designed to express the playful qualities of five little children who form an intimate circle of friends, Fuwa also embody the natural characteristics of four of China's most popular animals -- the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope, the Swallow -- and the Olympic Flame.

Yeah, I think this could be the real big part of the Games. China wanted world exposure, but they may get more than they bargained for.

so the male and women football started already, before the "Opening"......its odd....anyway, it'll be hard to sleep during the weekend with the olympics

the competions will take place from 9:30pm til next day's midday

if i wasnt working on the weekend, i would changed my day: sleep during day, awake during night

Bring on the 100m. Love that shit.

It's amazing how I quickly I go from enjoying handball/gymnastics/cycling etc to not giving a shit a week later. I can't explain it.

It's necessary for the men due to World Cup qualifying going on at the same time. :shake:

Bain,

Did you see the Brazil - Belgium game? What the fuck was wrong with some of your players? Dirty kicks at our players and then we received 2 red cards? Wtf??? Rafinha & Ronaldinho should have both gotten straight reds, for fuck's sake...

I really need to go back and watch that game. Sounds like it was a clusterfuck from the get go.

Couple of interesting straight reds (one to Netherlands and one to Cameroon). Looks like the referees have been told to be particularly strict against challenges that go over the ball or otherwise put stud to body.
