"The 50 Best TV Shows Of All Time", that is. For real, does it even happen anymore where a major print and/or online publication compiles one of these "best of" collections and more than half of it doesn't induce a major eye roll on how much they seemed to've gotten it wrong? And perhaps it's worth nothing, for those unaware, that Empire is out of the UK.
said list...
50. Quantum Leap 49. Prison Break 48. Veronica Mars 47. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 46. Sex and the City 45. Farscape 44. Cracker 43. Star Trek 42. Only Fools and Horses 41. Band of Brothers 40. Life On Mars 39. Monty Python’s Flying Circus 38. Curb Your Enthusiasm 37. Star Trek: The Next Generation 36. Father Ted 35. Alias 34. Frasier 33. CSI 32. Babylon 5 31. Deadwood 30. Dexter 29. ER 28. Fawlty Towers 27. Six Feet Under 26. Red Dwarf 25. Futurama 24. Twin Peaks 23. The Office 22. The Shield 21. Angel 20. Blackadder 19. Scrubs 18. Arrested Development 17. South Park 16. Doctor Who 15. Heroes 14. Firefly 13. Battlestar Galactica 12. Family Guy 11. Seinfeld 10. Spaced 09. The X-Files 08. The Wire 07. Friends 06. 24 05. Lost 04. The West Wing 03. The Sopranos 02. Buffy The Vampire Slayer 01. The Simpsons
(and yea I won't even try to pretend I hunted those down on my own, both came via Aint It Cool News)
Sure, I ended up becoming a fan of HEROES after the fact (once I finally got time to start watching), but after merely 1+ seasons, #15 all time? ehhh... ? And I haven't been a 24 fan really since midway thru season 2, so don't even get me started on that #6 slot. They may be taking the 'further miles logged' more into consideration they should for this one, but FAMILY GUY being a better show than ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT? You should have to be, well, arrested, for making a claim like that. Sweet moses, PRISON BREAK even makes the list at all while NYPD BLUE is nowhere to be found? And hell I'm not really even a Blue fan, but generally as a student of television and film I can recognize its quality and influence in the landscape. Though I very much am a fan of the original TWILIGHT ZONE, so its conspicuous absence should pretty much negate this entire list purely on principle.
blame the readers of empire or the visitors of thier site, since it was voted by the public so to speak. i didn't vote. one big omission to me is Homicide: life on the street, and more early 90's show like Northern Esposure, those were the days

No M*A*S*H makes this list worthless to me.
Holy crap how did I miss that one initially? But yea CHEERS is pretty much my favorite sitcom of all time, and definitely MASH is high up there as well, and both of their absence makes this absolutely laughable.
And to the person who remarked is there anything on there that didn't start in the 90's -- no doubt, man. These people are aware that television isn't only two decades old, right?
