I remember first hearing about this whole thing from him years and years ago now. It's like, he's got this sorta bank of "cool quotient" saved up from obviously being the most beloved James Bond ever and plenty of other awesome roles that even I certainly love him in myself, but otherwise this thing all by itself qualifies him as one of the worst types of old fashioned assholes

I'm not going to defend it, but people take this quote way out of context (and it was probably editied that way in the first place). Bawbawah had to practically drag the answer out of him, too.

Besides, it's not like anyone has actually accused him of abuse. Well, except for his ex-wife who never said a word (not even after the 20/202 interview) until a couple of years ago when she had a book to sell.

If you are willing to say this you don't deserve defending. If it's taken out of context he can come out and say it.

I can see what he was trying to say, just too bad he was trapped into answering in front of a camera. I can think of at least 1 situation where I would not feel bad about slapping a woman. If I was being physically attacked and pushing away wasn't working.

Like I said before, I'm not going to get into defending Sir Sean. Why bother really, this interview happened in, what, 1986?

However, I will make the obvious statement that no one has really made yet that it's a bullshit double standard. A woman can strike a woman, a man can beat the shit out of another man (hell, we have sports that revolve around this) and a woman can hit man, but if a man even so much as thinks about striking a woman, he's the devil incarnate. And don't give me any of that "weaker sex" BS, either - there are more women I know who could kick my ass than men.

Yet despite saying all that, I still get all bent out of shape if I see a man hit a woman. I guess I'm either brainwashed or it depends on what the woman did to deserve it.

Of course women can beat up men. I know more than a few I could take out. The point is the relationships that women and men have. Not that that aren't gay and lesbian relationships, but more relationships are hetero, and look at how many men think it's ok to emotionally and/or physically hurt a woman. It pisses most of and rightfully so.

It's different if we are talking about a woman hitting a guy, but he wasn't talking about that. I gather most men aren't when they think it's ok to hit a woman.

Maybe I'm sensitive to this because I'm a woman, but I won't apologize for it.
