I listen to a lot of radio sports' shows, including my favorite, Mike & Mike in the morning on ESPN radio, and there have been callers saying that the Curse of the Bambino is finally vanquished because the Red Sox beat the Yankees in the post-season to advance to the World Series. Mike Greenberg agreed with this.
Now, I always thought that the Curse of the Bambino was that the Red Sox would never win a world series. Plus, for the first 60+ years after the infamous trade, the Red Sox and Yankees didn't meet in the post season (particularly before 1969, when the American League split into two divisions).
So my question is -- is the Curse only vanquished when the Red Sox win the World Series?
Question No. 2: if Houston wins and Roger Clemens pitches Games 3 and 7 in the World Series, with Game 7 in Fenway, and beats the Red Sox, will there be another curse similar to Babe Ruth?
Of course, none of this makes sense unless you believe in curses. As a Cubs' fan, I have no choice but to believe in them.

I agree with that. This isn't the first time the Sox have beaten the Yankees to get this far. If I remember right, they made some impressive run in 1946 to win the pennant over the Yankees.
Like I said, congratulations, now go win the series. If you don't, it ain't worth shit.

Exactly, they couldn't even play each other in the postseason until the wildcard came into play, about 9 years ago or so. I am sure it feels good to beat the yankees and they may feel like it lifts some of the 'curse' but not winning the WS just means 1918 still means something.

Yeah. The Cubs are the cursed team. The goat, the black cat. A curse was actually placed on them, it's not been just a string of bad luck like the Red Sox
IMO, the single best argument you can make for the existence of the wild card in the MLB playoff system can be summed up by this prhase: "Yankees versus Red Sox". The 2003 and 2004 ALCS will go down as two of them most memorable seris in baseball history. And that's just plain awesome.
But, yeah, I'm disconcerted by the barage of "no more curse" talk on the radio all day. The "curse" is that the Sox will never win a World Series. But this was a huge, huge victory for them, nonetheless. Just because of the history--both long-term and recent--between these two teams. And if the Red Sox are going to break the curse this year, the most fitting way to do it is the way they've done it so far: by going through the Yankees, in a tight and spectaular seven game series.

Nope. The Curse is not beating the Yankees in a postgame series, it's winning the WS. Period.
They must win the World Series. If they don't, the next time the play in the Bronx you will hear the "1918" chant. And Yankee fans will have every right to say it.

How many WS have the Yankees won since 1918?
How many teams in the history of the mlb have blown a 3-0 lead?

Zero.
How many World Series have the Sox won since 1918?
You guys are as bad as Mariners fans who get all fired up about winning 116 games during the regular season. The Marlins are a better franchise than the Sox.

Wrong, just one. The Yankees
I added the word "other" to your post on accident
Obviously, the Yankees are the answer. My grandma knows that now. Doesn't change the fact that the curse refers to the WS and not a meaningless ALCS.
