Unlike PJ, Vancouver Nights 1 and 2 were pretty much the same right? It would be cool for new stuff to pop up each night.
Also, I can only imagine that the reason all the You-Tube stuff is being taken down immediately is because Ed plans on putting out some CD or DVD? (Or he thinks it is ruining the live experience for those who have not seen the show but will be attending later date?) There is a lot of other stuff on YouTube that they could have taken down. Apparently it is pretty easy to get it removed. Ed Solo clips have only lasted a few hours.
I love that I have been reading nothing but positive reviews. Go Eddie Go!

I don't think Ed has any plans to release anything. Ed just wants to be able to experiment. Seriously, there's A LOT of stuff you'd think 10club would take down off of Youtube but doesn't. I don't know if it's still up there, but there was a clip of him and Beth acting crazy at a skate park from the late 80s that was on there for AT LEAST 8 months.

Yes, for release. He made it sound like it was going to happen. He was super stoked last night - the crowd was way into No More (it's Berkeley, of course) and he was teary eyed and the fact that McCready, Penn, and the dude who wrote Society were all there made it a very special show for him. You could just tell. I bet we're going to see a release of some sort...

Thanks for the news. I've herd about the No More thing. Aparently he was disappointed by the response the song got the 1st night in Berkeley.

Not to put the cart before the horse but with so many covers would it a release be a full show? I'm just thinking in terms of rights/clearances. Would it be a compliation of Into the Wild/Pearl Jam songs? Of course I know other previously released shows include cover songs. Either way I'd buy what ever CD is publicly available from these small venue sets.

Well, I read a post on the Message Pit that Ed said (not an exact quote here but close enough): "this has to be the best sounding place I've ever played, hopefully it'll sound fantastic on the recording when you hear it" or something like that...

Most, if not all those tunes would have gotten clearance before had Pj done them & i doubt the artists involved would balk at the revenue so i'd say that's not a concern. Wouldn't it be great to have a record of this? both in a historic sense and a vinyl sense?
are we getting ahead of ourselves? let's hope not & hope he's not too precious about it.

They're not allowed to balk at the revenue. It's called mandatory licensing. They get paid, but they can't stop people from performing their songs, or even releasing recordings of those covers.

From my understanding of copyrights, an artist holds all rights including performance rights to their songs. So while it's not really feasible to stop everyone from performing the songs live, they do in fact, hold such rights to tell someone to cease and desist the live performance of their material. It's unheard of, because most artists take it as a compliment and if anything it helps spread their works. But they do actually hold performance rights over their material.

The most commonly known compulsory license is for nondramatic musical compositions.[6] This provision of the Copyright Act allows a person to make a new sound recording of a musical work, if that has been previously distributed to the public, by or under the authority of the copyright owner.[7] There is no requirement that the new recording be identical to the previous work, as the compulsory license includes the privilege of rearranging the work to conform it to the recording artist's interpretation. This does not allow the artist to change the basic melody or fundamental character of the work.[8]
