Alright nice. Downloading mine right now. It's called "90's Remembered," so uh, we'll see how that goes. The title alone makes me think it's either going to be super awesome, or maybe kind of lame. I trust you though, mystery mix maker.

01-- 0:52 seconds No idea who or what this is, i'm bad with genres but this sounds alternative/punkish 02-- 0:51 seconds, exactly the same song as #01?...... 03-- Love the guitar parts on this one. though it sounds somewhat familiar, i have no idea what this could be. great track. (edit: easily my favorite on this mix) 04-- Musically this has lots of potential, lyrically i'm not impressed and though the vocals aren't bad, it's not really all that great either. 05-- This one didn't do much for me, i'm not too big on Punk to begin with, and it's songs/bands like these that make me like it even less. 06-- Hurriganes haha, wtf. this mix is all over the place. i never thought i'd ever hear this song ever again. fun song i suppose, but again, not really my thing. 07-- proggy, sounds quite a bit like it could be some King Crimson or something. very nice. 08-- ttrrreeeemmmmmbbblllliinnnggg voice..... and some kid complaining/chanting in the background. sounds like it's in a foreign language, but when you listen closely and get passed the trembling voice, you find it's actually english....interesting piece. 09-- Little Fluffy Clouds by [i forget] i remember liking this song when i was younger, now i don't care for it so much anymore. too ambient techno-ey for my liking 10-- a heavy version of the Beach Boys arrangement sound very surf rock (is that a genre) like, but have heavier instrumentation. I don't care for the Beach Boys or bands like them, but this is kind of interesting. 11-- Duran Duran... this song is actually fairly tolerable though i can't stand those electronic synth type beats. 12-- Bird tweeting (or something sounding like that) and some sort of flute thing going along with it. fits nicely. also wouldn't be out of place on a score for a retro Nintendo game. 13-- Not sure what this is, but it's kinda meh. sounds like a George Michael song or something 14-- Just when you think you've heard it all, a rap song. i have no idea who this is, but the name checking, intros outros whatnot makes me believe this is MF DOOM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ so.....really interesting listen overall, and i really love song #3 would like to know who/what and how to get ahold of the album that's one.. Also like #7 quite a bunch.
as odd and different from eachother as some of these songs were, they somehow together make for a very decent mixtape. i'd give it a 7/10
based on checking everyone's last.fm and knowing Hurriganes are from Finland, i'm gonna go out on a limb and say this mix was made by Vlad Of Finland. whoever it was, thanks for making me listen to this crazy mix and please tell me more about song 3 & 7

Are we going to have a separate thread for reviews? Cause as soon as it's done downloading I'm going to start my live track-by-track review.
good idea, hang on... edit: i'll have bain start that thread, so he can update the header whenever he wants too. i'll merge reviews posted here into that one.

The question for me now is, do I listen to this fucker sober, or give him the advantage of hitting the ole one hitter before I listen for the first time.

Great Mix BH.
Here is my review as I listen along.
1. Sounds like some guy playing piano inside a bong. Atmospheric crackling and clean piano. Short introduction. Kind of nice.
2. Slowy builds as an electronic sound pans between headphone L+R. Singing in another language perhaps. Her voice kind of sounds electronic, which goes well with the song. Excellent hazy electronic song.
3. Dark trip hop-esque introduction burst into drum and bass glitch. Distorted or something though, as opposed to the cleaner Aphex or Venetian breaks. I liked it a lot.
4. Begins with what I imagine a stoner hears when the police drive by. Interesting panning and volume shifts. Pretty drony and maybe a bit long, at ~6 mins, for my tastes.
5. What I imagine the combination of a whale and a bird would sound like. Consumed in a hazzy mist of electronic fuzz. Continuing the drone atmosphere from the last few songs.
6. Children chanting and singing. Sounds like something i'd hear in Final Fantasy 8. Kind of an interesting track. I like it. Ambiguous boygirlchild singing is a good touch.
7. Chanting type sound (without people) in the background, with acoustic guitar and some guy sliding (rice i hope) down a little tube. Some british kid saying something. Stupid british kids. Perhaps Peter Pan. Drone birds to finish. Loved this song, especially the acoustic touch.
8. Closer to post rock this time. Anchored by a steady drumbeat. Feels like it's building to something. Building to a fall lol. Great track. Loved the drums added in. Each track seems to add/remove one or two instruments, but retains the drony atmosphere.
9. Piano in this time. Middle Eastern tinged violin (I believe). Something that sounds like a banjo being shook and echoed. Favourite song by far so far. Classical song built around piano and violin. Beautiful. I'd say neo classical, but it sounds a bit older so I'm probably wrong.
10. More violin, which I am always a huge fan of. Darker counterpart to the last song. Swells of oragan sounding notes interspersed throughout. Quite a nice song.
11. Those organ sounding notes again with about 20 pounds of distortion shit all over it. I love it. Kind of reminds me of Nadja with the haze of distortion. Simple notes turned into impending doom.
12. Acoustic peice (to begin with lol) with that mexican sound Patton uses a lot. Techno erupts. It's about time you infected them. The sound of those tubes you turn side to side to make a prolonged squeezing type sound (if anyone knows what I mean you will hear the sound lol). Great song. Loved the mix of techno beats with some acoustic interludes. Flight of Bees attempt.
13. I feel like this is a cover of something. Acoustic peice by a small spanish immigrant. 14. Metal song filed under Love. How cute. Not sure if I am a fan of those cheesy bits that sound straight out of a dragonforce masturbation. I like the guys voice, even though I feel like the music should be heavier to match his lower gutteral growls. Perhaps it's just the recording.
15. Riverdance Metal combined with that little horse/man mutant that played the flute and pranced you to your next destination. This is what I like. Much heavier sounding drums/riffs to match the guys voice. Welcome to Camelot or Nova Scotia.
16. Faster technical metal. Is this Death? I only guess at this because of the bass and my limited knowledge Great song. I can tell you chose some of the more watered down metal for me lol.
17. I know this song. I am almost positive, but the name/group escapes me. Driving me insane lol. That fucking riff. Children of Bodom - Needled 24/7! I love this song.
18. Here is that heaviness I was talking about lol. I'm not always in the mood for stuff like this, but right now I definately am.
Mix flowed together very well. Gave impression you threw the mix together earlier but I think you put some decent thought into it. Last mix I got came off just as a mix of homogenous songs, instead of a flowing album. Great progression from ambient to drone to classical to metal. Perfect crushing ending.
