I've been watching a lot lately, but most of the movies have ranged from mediocre to poor (the last solid B grade I gave was like eight movies ago, and I think the last B+ was like 25 or more ago). It gets really tiring, almost draining. Does anyone else ever feel this way? Sigh...I need something great to perk me up. Shit, just one B+ movie would be enough.

yeah, when i was younger i used to watch EVERYTHING, and started to feel this way. now that i don't have as much time, i try not to watch anything lower than a B- (or C if there's lots of nudity in it)

I think that, right now, I'm feeling the opposite. I'm cinematically starved. Working a 9-hour job five days a week and studying full-time has left me with zero time for any recreational movie-watching (ironic, because I am a film student).
Luckily my boss at work was gracious enough to grant me a few days off to enjoy the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, which started today and counts as school credit. I'm super excited about it.
Here's my schedule for the next couple of weeks
Wednesday 9th 10.30 A.M- Teatro Hoyts 9, "Joy Division" (watched-- brilliant) 11.30 P.M- Teatro Hoyts 11, "The Reinactors" (am about to watch)
Thursday 10th 11.00 A.M- Teatro Hoyts 11, "Secrets Behind the Wall" 01.00 P.M- Teatro Hoyts 12, "Glastonbury" 04.00 P.M- Teatro Hoyts 9, "A Song of Good" 08.45 P.M- Teatro Atlas Santa Fe 2, "Déficit" 10.45 P.M- Teatro Atlas Santa Fe 1, "Patti Smith: A Dream of Life"
Friday 11th 01.00 P.M- Teatro 25 de Mayo, "Persépolis" 07.30 P.M- Alianza Francesa, "The Old, Weird America: Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music" 09.15 P.M- Alianza Francesa, "Once" 11.45 P.M- Teatro Atlas Santa Fe 2, "Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten"
Saturday 12th
(this might be a tough day since the 11th is my birthday and I am hosting a party after the Joe Strummer movie--- yes, parties in Argentina start at around 2 in the morning)
11.15 A.M- Teatro Hoyts 6, "Paria" 03.15 P.M- Teatro Hoyts 12, "One Way Street on a Turntable" 09.00 P.M- Alianza Francesa, "Too Tough to Die: A Tribute to Johnny Ramone" 11.45 P.M- Teatro Atlas Santa Fe 2, "Before The Devil Knows You're Dead"

Tuesday 15th 01.15 P.M- Teatro Atlas Santa Fe 1, "The Deathmaker" 03.45 P.M- Teatro Atlas Santa Fe 1, "Chaucun Son Cinema" 09.00 P.M- Teatro Atlas Santa Fe 1, "CSNY Deja Vu" 11.15 P.M- Teatro Atlas Santa Fe 1, "Smiley Face"

Saturday 19th 01.00 P.M- Teatro Atlas Santa Fe 1, "Bootleg Film" 06.15 P.M- Teatro 25 de Mayo, "Funny Games" 08.30 P.M- Teatro Hoyts 9, "Control" 11.45 P.M- Teatro Hoyts 12, "The Filth and the Fury"
Sunday 20th 10.30 A.M- Teatro Hoyts 9, "Full Battle Rattle" 01.15 P.M- Teatro Hoyts 10, "Boarding Gate" 05.00 P.M- Teatro Hoyts 12, "The Mosquito Problem and Other Stories"
There are a few gems that are playing that I won't be able to see due to scheduling conflicts (the Scorsese documentary on the Stones "Shine a Light" is playing, as well as the new Wong Kar Wai), but I'm still shaking with anticipation.
When the festival is over, I might feel a bit drained, but it will have been worth it.

Can we have a "What movie are you watching right now" thread? Will anyone post in it? I will. I think it'd be a good way to get turned onto good movies and talk about them and whatnot. Bad idea? Plausible idea?

Do people surf the web while watching a movie?
But feel free to start a 'what movie did you just watch" thread or something like that.

Hopefully one of 'em will do the trick.
i feel almost exactly the way you do. i've bought and downloaded so many dvds in the past year that i've got at least 400 movies at home to watch . of the last 10 fims i've watched, only 'memories of murder' and 'the last picture show' were real masterpieces, the others were disppointing, especially last year's supposed greats, 'there will be blood' and 'swenney todd', for example.
on my slate for the next few days:
from last year: juno, charlie wilsons war, before the devil knows youre dead others: the warriors, straw dogs, harakiri, days of being wild.
