After reading the "history of ten club tickets" article, I am weary of their ticketing for this tour. I emailed them today, and below is their response. They've been wrong before when asked this question... so, do we believe them this time? Also, does anyone know where that webpage of the "history" is? Can't find it.
Thanks!

Hola!
Can you tell me, are TC tickets allocated by any kind of a block-system (Eg: a list and a box of tickets) or is it 100% predetermined and in envelopes? Does it matter if I get to the box office at 12noon or 6pm?

When, exactly, do you remember them being wrong before about this question?
Mind you, I only have two experiences to go by: in 2003 they said the ticketing would be in blocks (i.e., get there early) and that's how it was done; in 2006 they said it would be predetermined, and it was.
The only hiccup I recall was one show in 2006 (which one slips my mind) where the seniority was mistakingly reversed.
So I'm going to go ahead and assume we can trust them with this one.

it was Grand Rapids, and it was no mistake.
the 10C is run by a bunch of people other than the band these days and they no longer treat the fans like they need us. its a business, just like any other. membership is growing daily so there is no need to provide customer service anymore. it wont be long before premium seats will be auctioned to the highest bidder...oh wait...
edit: remember the days when the music mattered more than posters, zippos and beach towels???

In 2003, you went to a certain ticket window based on your 10C number. After they took your name, they just grabbed tickets off the top of a pile for you, so if you got there earlier you had better seats.

and people (including us) spent the whole day sitting in line outside teh venue to get the best of their block. what a waste.
I remember at Alpine there was a guy (not gonna name him) who was there at like 5am, and was trying to direct the line all day, and he ended up with row J or something. he couldve shown up at 7pm, saved 14 hours and probably gotten row M.

it was no mistake, but it was most certainly done at the request of the BAND because they were tired of the boring same people under their nose all the time and wanted a change. And the result was great, atmosphere went through the roof compare to the previous shows.
and it's exactly why the random rows on this tour. Nothing to do with business..they saw the result of new motivated blood in front in Europe, they want some of that in the US without having to go GA or completely remove seniority. they are actually taking very good care of their fans..ALL their fans rather than the stuck-up few that act like they own the band (shame there's some cool people with low numbers, and they'll lose out a bit because of the rest)
Only reason you don't like it is because it removes your 'god-given' right to front rows you're moving back only 2 fucking rows!

go on . . .
it was completely intentional. several people had mentioned for days before the show that Ed was upset with the lack of energy in the first few rows. what sucks is that they didnt just "accidentaly" put the first couple rows on the side, but anyone with a decent number even if the werent one of the people who go to every show. needless to say, we were expecting great seats with a low 100,xxx number and it being a midwest show in a less populated area, and we ended up on the side two sections back.
again, i've said it before, but the 10C does what it wants these days without consequence.
dont get me started on the Vic...

are you talking to me specifically? because (a) I dont appreciate the tone, and (b) I've sat in the front row all of twice (through the 10C) in the 50 shows I've seen, and I appreciate it very much.
i dont have a problem with the new policy, now that theyve announced it in advance. doing it on the fly was bullshit.
however, I do think the new policy opens the door for scalpers. if i'm a scalper, i'm buying a few memberships and rolling the dice on getting those random rows. what do you think a front row ticket would go for? even if the dont get one of those pairs, they will be able to sell just about any 10C tix for well above face value.

well you're the only one that said that it was a bad idea. the on the fly was an experiment, so what? if they told you in advance that show wouldn't be strict seniority, would you not have gone? side seats are great seats, I'd be very happy with those at the non-ampitheatre shows, much better than being 30 rows back on the floor!...they didn't completely reverse the order.
and the odds are so bad to actually land a front row seat, whilst being stuck with a really shitty one on high number when you don't (that they won't sell above face in most places), that it is of no value to scalpers, aside that they STILL have to be there at the show and can't know or sell in advance.
and yes, please do go on about the Vic...

no thanks. I try to treat people with respect, the way I would in real life, even when I'm on an anonymous message board where there are no consequences. perhaps that is my mistake.

In the article (someone please post a link, I cannot find it), the TC conceded that, though they said tickets would be predetermined (meaning your tickets would be the same, no matter when you show up) that in fact it was instead done by the block system.

...the block system is where the band gives the box office a list of TC members from 1 to 500 and they give them the first bunch of rows - and members 501-1000 get the next bunch of seats behind the first "block" of rows... and so on, but if you are member number 1, and you arrived at 6pm, you would be sitting at the back of your section of TC members... There is no seniority within the block - just simply the earlier you get there, the closer you get. This is an oversimplification, but generally accurate.
