Or repertory programming theater, second run theater, grindhouse, whatever you want to call it, it's a place that plays classic movies outside of what's currently in new release. Examples would include the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, the New Beverly in LA, etc.. My question is, do you have one of these nearby and if so, do you ever go?
I don't have anything even remotely close to me, but if I ever hit the lotto and didn't have to worry about such an endeavor being financially profitable, I'd love to open one. I always get really jealous when I read about the stuff they have out at the New Beverly each month, most recently the Wright Stuff with Edgar Wright where he hosted and did double features of his favorite movies. On some nights there were guests from the films like John Landis for American Werewolf in London. There was a Raising Arizona/Evil Dead II double feature, how cool is that? I think Eli Roth is in the midst of doing one right now as well, The Greats of Roth.
And of course the Alamo Drafthouse which has played host to AICN's Butt-Numb-a-thon and QT fest, and I'm sure they have lots more going on that non-locals never hear about.
So do you have one? If so do you go? If not, why the hell not?

We have The Charles, which usually has a revival series going on at any given moment. Right now they're doing Hitchcock. Last year they did series' on Jodorowski, Bergman, and noir.

It's in Baltimore. I'm an hour away, and they only play them on two weeknights (when I have to get up at 5 the next morning) and on Saturdays while I'm at work. So needless to say I don't go as much as I'd like. I'm definitely going to the next few Hitchcock films (Vertigo, Rear Window, The Birds, Psycho, etc) even if I have to function on 3 hours sleep the next day. Last year I caught The Big Sleep, Criss Cross, In a Lonely Place, Laura, Double Indemnity, Persona, Hour of the Wolf, Through a Glass Darkly, and The Seventh Seal. I also got to see House of Wax in 3D for free just before Halloween. I didn't catch any of the Jodorowski series, which pisses me off to no end.

How often do you get down there?
I saw they're doing a Monster Squad/Night of the Creeps double feature there next month for $7. *creams*

I go to the Alamo a lot, but mostly for new releases. I already pay for Netflix and I can only afford to go to the theater a few times a month, so I don't usually check out the older stuff. One of these days when I get more money I plan to go there a few times a week. They have lots of great stuff.

i haven't made it to that one. i've been to a few midnight showings and stuff like that. my favorite is the movie screenings they do at the hollywood cemetery during the summer. the last one i went to was vertigo, which is definitely worth watching in a cemetery.

Yes sir. Just look at these posters to see some of the awesome shit you've missed.
I've been thinking I should move to Austin sight unseen and just live down there at the Drafthouse.

Don't feel bad, I'll probably never get to check anything like this out, unless I make a vacation out of going to one of the festivals at the Drafthouse.

I really wish I were near one of these places. There's got to be something in Chicago, right? That's not too far.
I'd almost guarantee there are. If they've got one in Columbus (still too far for me to regularly take advantage but whatever) then I'd bet Chicago has a few.
