A charismatic yet secretive businessman named Hank Scorpio enlists Homer to work for Globex Corporation. Homer likes Scorpio's casual, laid-back management style and accepts the job, moving his family to Cypress Creek, where Globex is located. As Homer learns the ropes of his new job, life in Cypress Creek for Marge is so uneventful that she takes to drink to pass the day. Bart and Lisa are having a tough time as well: Lisa is allergic to nearly all the plants in the nearby forest and Bart is placed in a special class for slow kids in his new school. Homer is still convinced that Cypress Creek is the place for him and that Hank Scorpio is the boss of his dreams. But when Homer discovers that the Globex Corporation is seeking world domination and that Scorpio is actually a super-villain straight of out a James Bond film, he starts to have some small reservations. After discussing it with Marge and the kids, Homer and his family pack up and move back to Springfield while Hank Scorpio takes control of the entire East Coast.
Smithers: What's wrong with this country!? Can't a man walk down the street without being offered a job?
Announcer: Cypress Creek... a tale of one city. Homer: Ah, lets watch something else. Marge: Homer, you're trying to talk us into moving to this place. Homer: Oh yeah that's right. Lets watch this.
Homer: Well, what do you think of me and Cypress Creek now, Marge? Marge: It does seem nicer than Springfield. Lisa: Yeah, did you notice the people weren't shoving or knocking each other down. I've never been to a place like that before! Bart:<shoves Lisa> Me neither.
Hank Scorpio: Hey, look at my feet. You like those Rockersons? Look in your closet, there's a pair for you. Don't like em? Then neither do I! <throws shoes> Get the hell outta here! Ever seen a guy say goodbye to a shoe? Homer: Ye-hes.. once.

The whole season is brilliant, was just watching it a few weeks ago and it is seriously classic episode after classic episode. Best season in my opinion. This episode is one of my favorites as well.

Homer places a Cypress Creek promotional video in the VCR.) Narrator: Cypress Creek: A tale of one city. Homer: (Bored) Uh, let’s watch something else. Marge: Homer, you're trying to talk us into moving to this place. Homer: Oh yeah, that's right. Let’s watch this.
Homer: Mr. Scorpio says productivity is up 2%, and it's all because of my motivational techniques, like donuts and the possibility of more donuts to come.
Scorpio: Hey, before we continue our tour, would you mind hanging my coat up on the wall please? Homer: Mmmhmm. Umuhh now let’s see now. Uuummm. Scorpio: Ahaha. Relax, Homer, at Globex we don’t believe in walls. In fact, I didn't even give you my coat!

Took out season 4 last night to watch Marge In Chains. I never realized until last night how hilarious this episode is. It just made its way into my top 20 episodes I think. Lionel Hutz is at his finest in this episode

Outstanding Episode
Hank: Uh, hi, Homer. What can I do for you? Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks. Hank: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks! Homer, there's four places. There's the Hammock Hut, that's on third. Homer: Uh-huh. Hank: There's Hammocks-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Butt-There? Homer: Mm-Hmm. Hank: That's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the hammock complex on third. Homer: Oh, the hammock district. Hank: That's right.
Homer: Uh... you have any sugar around here? Hank: Sugar? Sure. There you go. Sorry it's not in packages. Want some cream? Homer: Uh...I... no.

Thanks for using my suggestion, LD.
This is one of my favourite episodes of this season. Maybe it's the Bond connection or maybe it really is just that good.
The show was at its peak during Season 8, IMO and this episode is still near the top of the list for me. There are just so many classic moments and endless quotables.
Mr. Scorpio, this house is almost too good for us. I keep expecting to get the bum's rush.
We don't have bums in our town, Marge, and if we did they wouldn't rush, they'd be allowed to go at their own pace.
By the way, am I the only one that didn't know that Scorpio/Albert Brooks was named the greatest guest star in Simpsons' history by IGN? Rightfully so, I say, although there have so many great ones over the years.
Scorpio should make a comeback. So what if it can't live up to this episode? He didn't die, he left a vague message for Homer and I think that's enough to justify another appearance in The Simpons' world.
Lastly, I knew this episode was well-received, but not as well-recieved as the Wikipedia article reports:

Albert Brooks did the voice, but it certainly wasn't Scorpio. It was Cargill.
pretty much the same guy. i half expected the movie to end with him revealing himself as scorpio and getting to the top of a gov't agency to enact his evil plans.

Scorpio and Cargill were not "basically the same guy" at all. In fact, the only similarities I can think of are Brooks' voice and being "bad guys" (although Scorpio is one of the most sympathetic Simpsons characters in the show's history).

I love that music that plays every time Marge starts drinking wine. The scale of drama in her world is so small.... Makes for some really subtle, endearing jokes that make me laugh even on the billionth viewing.
