hahahhaa

I actually follow these companies...they are keeping the headquarters seperate so that will eliminate a lot of potential synergies.

They will save money on being able to buy things in larger quantities and negotiate harder with suppliers.

Also only 1 CEO, CFO, etc.

i know nothing about the fast food industry, and living in New York, it's really a Mcdonalds town. there are no arby's i'm aware of and a few BKs.

I just found it odd that Arby's bought Wendy's. As an average joe, i'd have thought there were more Wendy's out there and that they'd have been a buyer of Arbys.

Thanks for the insight, given2trade

You are correct. Arby's didn't really buy Wendy's. Wendy's is a MUCH bigger company. It's called a 'stock swap' and when the merger is completed former Wendy's shareholders will own the vast majority of the shares outstanding. I don't have the number in front of me but probably like 75% of the shares.

The reason why people are saying Arby's is buying Wendy's is because Arby's management team will lead the combined company and the 'ticker' that shakes out after the stock swap will be Arby's ticker. However, they plan on changing the name to incorporate Wendy's in it.

So don't believe the headlines. Arby's did not buy Wendy's. It was at best a merger w/ no premium paid to either shareholders that will now be run by the Arby's management team.

i see. i didn't even read the story. i just saw the headline and thought "square roast beef". and while it was meant as a joke, i was preparing to see roast beef "patty-ized" and i started to get ill.

I didn't realize arby's has the better management team. Or is this just the wendy's guys cashing out and retiring?

I am not sure Arby's does have the better management team. How they negotiated the details of who would run the combined company is anyone's guess. I'm sure some of Wendy's management will be kept, since they are not combining headquarters.

There's one on the Thruway southbound before you get to Newburgh. I used to plan my trips around it.

Does this mean it's going to take me an extra 20 minutes to get my order at Wendys? :x

Arby's is pretty much the only fast food I'll eat. I doubt it's any healthier than the others, but it sure as hell tastes better. Market Fresh is the way to go.
