I've been saying that he is their best player since his rookie year before he was even the starting 2nd baseman. He had an incredible AB against Chris Young last night, started out 0-2, fouled off a bunch of pitches, count went to 2-2. He ended up striking out on a check swing, the home plate umpire called him out, replays showed that he was not even close to bring the bat even halfway across the plate let alone all the way. Anyway he makes even outs enjoyable to watch.

After the game Young said that Utley is the best hitter in baseball. I agree with him, he has such a great swing. I've never seen someone get so much power out of such a compact swing. The guy is a joy to watch.

his k-bb ratio has really improved the past three years:

132-63
89-50 (in about 100 less at bats)
15-11 so far this year

that being said, i'm not sure he was better than ryan howard in 2006, though albert pujols might have been.

im w/ ya man. they should have moved polanco to 3rd, put utley at 2nd and just killed bell. the start of that season was so frustrating b/c we had an all star on the bench most of the time. he's been a stud since his first at bat, thank god every in the country can see what we saw. for my money, he's the best player in baseball.

there are no stats for that. if there was, we might say a-rod is better than utley.

Utley is good enough in the field. He makes some spectacular plays out there, he also will miss some easy ones.
