okay so im trying to be a teacher, and the county job fair is tomorrow, where all the schools come and interview and hire people on the spot. unfortunately, there aren't many social science positions open, so i'm basically competing for one of 3 jobs. anyway i'm about to go to kinkos and start making lotsa copies of everything for tomorrow. here's my cover letter for my resume, does it sound okay? tips, suggestions welcome.
To Whom It May Concern, I am applying for the vacant Social Science teaching position at your school. I am confident that I am the person you are searching for, and I feel that I am very capable of having a significant and positive impact upon the education and lives of your students. My name is Carey ------- and I was an honors History and Political Science student at FAU; I graduated this past December Magna Cum Laude with a 3.889 GPA. I plan to continue my education by enrolling in Graduate School and obtaining my Masters Degree within the next three years. I have a passion for learning and a strong desire to pass this on to my students. I believe that I have the ability to help students to care about history and government and to help them realize both how they are personally affected by it, as well as how they themselves can make a positive impact. As a student, I have had many capable and competent teachers who were successful in spreading an excitement about history to the students. Conversely, I have had teachers who lacked the passion and desire necessary to be effective in the classroom. I feel that I have learned great lessons from both types- seeing first hand styles which are ineffective, and on the other hand, witnessing how good teachers have made subjects, which students previously may not have been interested in, appealing to the class. I believe that most students not only have the ability to learn, but also that they in fact want to learn; sometimes we just have to try different methods before we discover how to be the most effective. I eagerly anticipate my opportunity to serve in the classroom and help students come to appreciate history and the social sciences as much as I do. Thank you for your time. My resume is attached and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak further with you in person about what I have to offer. Once again, I look forward to speaking with you and hope to meet with you soon.

so i don't know if this irony or what exactly...but just now a girl from work called to tell me that our restaurant just closed. so i'm officially out of work lol. very strange. i lose my job the day before i go to interview for a new job. i feel like jerry in that episode of seinfeld where he was even steven.

i stared at those 2 sentences a few minutes and tried to figure out if it was bad repetitive or just repetition for emphasis. i think you're right.

This is a good closer. Also, it would be a good idea to personalize the letters by inserting the school name.
"I am highly interested in this position and welcome the occasion to discuss my qualifications and interests with you. I have enclosed a copy of my resume for your review. Thank you for your consideration."

Its tough being taught to eliminate the first person from all your work through high school and college and then having to use it exclusively to actually find work.

Bart can you write my next book report?
Don't you work on wall street?
Yes, but you never know when I might need to have a book report written, you know?
Give me a little insider info and I might be inclined to help out with that 12 page essay on phallic imagery in the Clifford The Big Red Dog series your boss assigns.
