I picked this up The Omnivore's Dilemma in hardcover when it came out, opened it up and got distracted. I'm interested in health again so i started it again. I am finding this to be a very good, interesting read. Basically, Michael Pollan investigates what we eat and where it comes from. Prety exciting stuff if you enjoy reading nutrition labels.

anyone read his latest, In Defence of Food?

The only book I've read by Michael Pollan is The Botany of Desire, which is an incredibly fun read. His in-depth analysis of the history surrounding four simple plants is as engrossing as The Bourne Identity. I've since read about his food activism, which has interested me since I read Fast-Food Nation and The Meat We Eat years ago.

And yet, I have perhaps the worst eating habits in the world. I suppose that I'm fundamentally lazy.

I was the same way with Fast Food Nation and Supersize Me. It has taken me years to overcome my fast food addiction, actually. I still slip up quite a bit. Pollan has a way of making me feel clean and wholesome, though. My sig is my new mantra, and it is working so far (with a little help from multivitamins). I've never heard of The Meat We Eat, but I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks slh!

just read in defense of food, its a great read. enjoyed it more overall than omnivores dilema. Both have made me continue down the path of healthier eating away from a traditional western diet.

wanting to read botany of desire but don't have it and theres alot of books beside me here that also need reading.

It's by Ken Midkiff. Quite eye-opening.

You've inspired me to try to do something about my eating. I like to think that tomorrow is another day.
