So, anybody heard this? I went to pick up the new Opeth, not knowing that RCPM already (!) have a new one, so I had to pick this up too.
Apparently their last album was criticized for being too "overproduced," so they responded by going down to Mexico and writing/recording eight songs from the ground up, and these (plus a few more) are the result. I listened to it on my way home today, and I can kinda feel it so far. It's more interesting, has more of a south of the border feel, more variety, etc. I could see this becoming their 2nd or 3rd best album with more listens.

I'm actually starting to really like this album. The first track is the worst on the disc, but after that it's pretty dang solid. This album really captures some of the essense of their live shows, which is really the best thing about the band. The lyrics are nothing to write home about, but that's about what you can expect considering each song was written in a day. I'd probably slot it somewhere between Honky Tonk Union and Americano, but closer to Honky Tonk Union.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this, but finally got a chance to see them play live last night in Cleveland. It was all request Sunday so all they did was play songs that the crowd suggested. A whole lot of fun and the best show I've attended in years.
