Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on today's qualifier against Trinidad, and on all the qualifiers in general. At first I thought today's match would be a walk in the park, but after looking at the roster for that Trinidad team--Dwight Yorke, Shaka Hislop, Kenwyne Jones, Stern John--I'm not as confident. Granted, all those players are quite unpredictable, but if they all hit their stride today, it could be a rought match for the US. Just my two cents...

I used to play with some guys from Trinidad in college. Good but not all that special.

Sure they have a good team and the guys you mentioned are excellent players, but if the US plays well they should win.

The US men really need to work on fundamentals, ball control and defense. They still have a solid team when they are all around and this or that guy is not playing with club teams. Other than Mexico I'm not concerned with anyone in Concacaf.

very true. if the US plays simple, they should be fine. I'm actually quite excited to see Eddie Johnson play up top, with Donovan and Beasley running in behind him. For probably the first time in US soccer history, I think we have some genuine goal-scorers on our squad; McBride just never gets it done (watch, he'll go out and bang in three today just b/c i said that). and you're right--Mexico is the tough one, but I still think teams like Guatemala or Costa Rica can slip in and steal a win when you're not focus. I guess we'll see...

Beasley was my favorite player from the last World Cup, he's definitely got some talent. I can't wait until next summer. I hope we surprise some people and at least make it to the quarterfinals.

DaMarcus Beasley, why couldn't you score goals for the Fire like you do for PSV?

Either PSV is just plain old better than us (likely) or the competition in the Eredivisie is 3 levels lower than that of MLS (also likely).

so, a massive qualifier tomorrow against Mexico, and one that I've been looking forward to for quite awhile. I really believe this is our best chance yet to win in Azteca. I feel like Bruca Arena has got our squad organized to the tee, and that they're going out to win the 3 points, not to play Mexico. I think the Mexicans are hellbent on revenge and that'll get them in trouble. What about everyone else??

And then make them clean their air and move down a few thousand feet... or we'll keep making them play in 30 degree weather in the states
