i've been watching this movie a few times lately... could be one of my top five movies of all time. everything is so perfect. ledbutter must be talking about another movie in terms of shortcomings in plot/acting/cinematography/ect. cause there are none.

I saw this in a cinema when it came out. I was 12, and with a girlfriend and her father. We were so overwhelmed that we just didn't have anything to say when we walked out of the theater. Beautiful film.
this is a great movie. saw it for the first time not too long ago, and i thought i wouldn't like it so much because i was aware that it wasn't historically accurate at all. but if you can look past that, the film itself is fantastic. the actors' performances, the music (of course), the cinematography, it's all awesome.
i really liked the way they portrayed the main character, being a genius and all, but also all that childlike behaviour and innocence, even in the scene where he is making fun the other composers, playing tunes in the syle of, it doesn't come across as malicious or anything, they guy's just having a bit of fun.

Whoever played Salieri was absolutely amazing. The scene where he first meets the priest is really funny once you are familiar with the movie. Especially his delivery here:
Salieri: Do you know who I am? Priest: All men are equal in the eyes of god. Salieri turns his wheel chair toward the priest. Salieri: (suggestively) Are they?
Such great subtext.

That's Frank Murray Abrahams and this guy is a very good actor. The end of the movie when Amadeus is writing the Requiem is so powerful. The inclusion of the music in the scenes, the rythm, everything fits just right in ! I first saw the movie when i was 14 and i was blown away with his power. Mozart is the first rock star !
