Anybody gonna try to ignore the setlists before their show? Not that it's that big a deal with PJ but i've always wanted to go in to a show completely blind, not knowing what songs they haven't done in forever that they're playing (almost) every night now, any new covers or what have you. Figured with so few shows and no new album to promote this would be a great time to give it a shot... who's with me?

I won't follow the setlists, but for entirely different reasons than you.

i'm going to the first show so it's not really an issue for me. they also mix it up every night usually so just because you know of a certain song being played one night by no means does it guarantee they'll play it at your show.

yes i know they mix it up...

ok for example... when i went to boston 2 if i hadn't already known that they had been doing "why go" a lot on this tour, i woulda gone nuts when it came on... and i also sorta thought that they'd do leash based on the internet reports of the soundchecks and all.

just sayin' i think it would be nice to go in 100% cold... that's all.

since I'll be at every show...not really an issue.
as long as they rock out every night, I'll live :D..

I can see where you're coming from.

For me it's similar to hearing songs before the album leaks. Hearing WWS, Gone, and Comatose months before the album came out changed the way i heard them within the context of the album. I think for the next album i'm going to try and avoid all plays of songs before the album is released so i can hear it as a whole.

I am planning on avoiding the setlists. I am going to DC, so its only about 11 days, but I'd prefer not to know what gems theyve pulled out for the tour. it will also keep me from expecting too much.

Allow me to elaborate...

After seeing them only once in the last 10 years, there are many older tunes, as well as newer songs, that I haven't yet heard. I want to see what the liklihood is that I'll possibly have the chance to see some of these songs.

I find it much more enjoyable to go into setlist blackout prior to a show. This was particularly helpful on the EV solo tour, considering he played an almost identical set each night. It would not have been nearly as fun if I would have basically known exactly which songs would be played and the order they would be played in.

For this tour, there will definitely be rarities and surprises - the band has already promised that. It is more fun for me to not know what they have been soundchecking, playing etc.

I usually follow sets, but my only show is Bonnaroo, so I'll be traveling or at Roo for the first two shows. So this'll be the first show since 98 that I've gone into blind to what's been played prior. I think I'll try and keep it that way while I'm there, just to add to the excitement of PJ being at Roo.

I've always thought about doing this. I dont know if I can resist the temptation though.

The only time it would have really made a difference for me in the past was @ Philly in 2006. Would have been a shocker to hear 'troubled souls unite....' if I hadnt already seen the Boston setlists from that week.
