What's the consensus on this album for Clash fans?

I love this record. It's probably not for a single sitting, or anything, but it's gotta be the definitive piece of evidence for their spastic, try-anything obsessiveness with creating music. It's got almost as many great songs as London Calling, which is saying a lot. I guess I see it a lot like the white album...there's a bit of filler, but that doesn't really detract from the album as a whole because, if you're not pushing yourself hard enough that you sometimes misfire then you probably don't need to be releasing a double album of your output anyway.

Not sure I can add much to that, pretty much agree with what McParadigm said.
This was the last Clash Album I got, but that was mostly owing to the fact that the only local record store that had it wanted an arm and a leg for it. A lot of great songs here, some of my favorites being: "The Magnificent 7," "Somebody Got Murdered," "The Sound of Sinners," and "Kingston Advice."
Usually when I feel the Clash I pull out London Calling, but this would be a close second.

"The Magnificent 7" is my favourite Clash song. Otherwise, what McP said.

I owned this one for a couple of years before I could ever really get into it.
But every time I listen to it now, which isn't all too often because of its length and I prefer to listen to it all in one go, I find something new that I really like.
