alright, this thread is WAY overdue in my opinion. we've all(at least in the states) seen it. it's such a great learning tool for young minds (although i personally cannot stand elmo) that has stood the test of time. learning to count, read, speak spanish, and be entertained for an hour a day is a great thing for young people as opposed to some of the other crap that's out there (teletubbies anyone?) anyway, recently i've been watching clips on youtube and reliving my childhood as well as discovering older gems that were around before my time.
i used to love this song...so peaceful and mellow
this is absolutely adorable (you have to watch it all the way through)
ladies and gentleman, the teeny little super guy:
guy smiley
and of course, one of the most well known children's songs
(yes, this post is slightly skewed towards cookie monster. i love me some cookie monster )

I only recently learned that Mah Na Mah Na wasn't originally a SS/Muppets song, rather it was written for a Swedish soft-core porn flick:
Quote:
"Mah Nà Mah Nà" debuted as part of Umiliani's soundtrack for the Italian softcore pornography movie Svezia, inferno e paradiso (Sweden: Heaven and Hell) (1968), a pseudo-documentary film about wild sexual activity and other behavior in Sweden ("Mah Nà Mah Nà" accompanied a scene set in a sauna).
Anyway, I am an unabashed Sesame Street fan. If I had the channel (Noggin?) that airs old shows, I'd watch them all the time.
I might just play this at my wedding. If I ever have one.
Monsterpiece Theater with Alaistar Cookie- Chariots of Fur
A couple celebrity musical appearances
Those appear on the box set Songs From The Street: 35 Years of Music. If you're a fan of the music on SS, I can't recommend it enough. Hopefully they do another volume because there is so much more that they could use.

As a kid whenever Ernie was took Bert's eyebrows off I thought it was the funniest thing ever. A dozen years ago or so I got an actual size Kermit doll (for lack of a better word) for Christmas. One of my favorite things to this day.
