Oh sure, I start a Daytona 500 thread and no one cares.....
.... just teasing.
I still don't understand what the deal is at DEI with the swap between Jr. and Waltrip. Why did they do that?
c-
I'm not sure either. Was the chemistry gone?
Earnhardt 39th in first qualifying session.
I can't imagine that Tony Eury Jr. and Dale Jr. were suddenly lacking chemistry.... Mikey probably whined that Jr. got "better" stuff than him or something, so they took both drivers and sponsors and swapped them (Jr. has all of Michael's old cars and vice versa. Seems insane to me that Jr. would have to give up his Talledega cars.... something isn't "right".
Yeah, he knew going into qualifying he'd be slow. I think he's holding out for the 150's on Thursday, or even holding out until Sunday. It doesn't take long to move to the front of the pack if you have a drafting partner, its avoiding the big wreck that makes everyone NOT want to be at the back. I think Kenny Wallace isn't going to make it into the race, he needs to be either the winner of one of the 150's or he needed to be one of the four cars after the 35 w/owner points in qualifying today, and he wasn't. I doubt very much he can win either of the 150s (Kenny Wallace that is).
Gordon looked good though. I'm surprised Jarrett got first, especially since his style is to go to the back anyway. Sort of wastes a spot, methinks.

a guy told me a work that dei wanted to change crews and cars to give mikey a year with the best equipment. if he doesnt produce this year, dei will change it back and look for another driver. i know very little about the sport, but i am a closet fan. for valentine my g/f gave me tickets to the early race at talledega. this will be my first race.

I suspected as much (that Mike may have complained that he didn't get as good of equipment as Jr. or some such nonsence). I would LOVE to see a race at Talledega, I just wish the track were in a different state I read in Jr.'s book that particular track isn't exactly the best place for a woman to walk around in the in-field alone, and if I went to a race I would most likely be by myself, so that pretty much ruled that location "out" for me. Oh well.
What's up with the Mexico City race? That one will NOT be for points, right? I wonder how many people are going to end up "sick" from visiting that location and having it impact Vegas (its CA 1/27, then Mexico City, then Vegas 3/13, right?)

Talladega is a different world on race week. Trust me.
It's an amazing track. Spring race can get boiling hot but the Fall race is usually cooler. But it's a blast for either race. You wouldn't be disappointed.
And being a girl alone during race week wouldn't be a good idea. It gets pretty wild!!
