I always liked his comedy, but after he ran on stage during My Morning Jacket's set at Bonnaroo dressed as a rather large woman, I gained another level of respect for the guy. The song he come on for started at about 4 am, that's heart.

Back when I lived in Los Angeles, somewhere inbetween 2000-2002 I made my first trip to The Improv, Janeane Garofalo was headlining and I was mainly interested in her, but Zach was one of about 4-5 opening acts that came before her that night. I'd never heard of him before, but he seemed pretty funny. He did a lot of dry comedic songs on the piano.
I made that thread a long time ago about the Purple Onion DVD. He called me a loser at Bonnaroo during his walk into the audience, which was fun. I wish I caught his Michael Jackson montage on video, but here's a screenshot:
