every show i've been to at MSG "officals" have stated that they must be off the stage at 11:15pm and Eddie has comented on it before live. However there is also a way to keep on playing, the bad just pays a fine to the stadium.
This is mainly bits and pieces of what i've seen and heard. i was just wondering if anyone had a better idea.

Ed announced early on they worked out something about the curfew. didn't look but I think they left the stage around 11.20 tonight.

I think it was closer to 11:30...
so it was either 11:24 or 11:26. Let's see if we can get to the bottom of this before the end of the day.
If it helps, I just barely caught the 11:33 train home on the LIRR, and I stayed until the end.

There's a curfew. The curfew is 11pm. A band can continue playing to midnight or past, but they'll pay. OH will they pay.
The rule of thumb with the unions is that if you're in the middle of a song, and it's 11pm, and you're finishing the song at 11:02pm, you're fine. But let's say it's 10:59pm, and you're starting another song that's 6 minutes - well, you just paid every union employee's salary for another hour with overtime, and that adds up. MSG is the strictest, but most venues in the NY and NJ area are the same.
Now the good thing about breaking curfew on the first night of a two-night show is that since there's no load-out that night, you have less stage hands and no loaders you're paying overtime for. They simply don't have the venue staff on hand to remove the equipment since it's staying there overnight. I'm not sure what the deal they struck with the unions was. They're probably still paying something though - but negotiating ahead of time instead of at "the eleventh hour" is smart.
