It seems like at every show there's a song or two that I feel like I am REALLY HEARING for the first time. A lot of you are way past that, I guess.

But does it happen to you with songs you know well, and maybe even have seen live before, that on some particular night that song is a complete revelation?

For me, I Got Sh*t in DC was like that, and last night it was Whipping.

I'm not saying these were the best songs of the night. For me, the highlights last night were Who You Are, Present Tense, 1/2 full (jesus was THAT great live!), LROM. But Whipping was the one I'd totally never appreciated before.

When they opened with Long Road (Uniondale '03) I had a similar experience. It was a cool song prior to hearing it live, but I was really moved by at that show.

I always liked Of The Girl, but it was just an average song for me. Then I heard it in 2003 at the acoustic pre set on July 11th in Mansfield. Blew me away and now it's one of my favorites.

Sad from the Gorge in 05. I never liked the song and would skip it when it came up. After hearing it live ( and it's not even the best version live) I "got" it and it was transformed into one of my top favorite tracks.

GREAT POST!

I had the same vibe with "Faithfull" in West Palm. Though I have liked the song on Yield, I'd never FELT it like I did that night.

Isn't it amazing how we all love some songs while it takes time or certain timing for that song to come along.

I have always loved 'Sad' and for the first time in West Palm, I was so stoked to hear it.

I Got Shit...I know I am in the minority here, though. But it's a GREAT SONG.

No it doesn't; the vocals and guitar work are AMAZING. Especially live.

I got ID is an amazing step out. If you can't see that, I'm sure you dislike "You Are".

I wasn't that big on Marker in the Sand until I heard it at the Vegas '06 show. I don't know what did it, but now it's one of my favorites.

Faithfull is one of my top favorite songs but when I heard it at LV, I was blown away. It was absolutely stunning.

Who you are this year in West Palm. My jaw dropped open out of disbelief.
.
My all time favorite moment was Hard to Imagine at Santa Barbara 06. That first set was so mellow and the sun was setting over the trees and from the right angle you could see the ocean. Plus I was just stoked to hear that song.

Just my opinion here but I think Sleight of Hand this year in VA Beach was by far the best live version I have ever heard of the song. This was the first time I didn't think the chorus lacked the appropriate crash of guitars like the studio version. It was awesome.

nothingman MSG '03. It was as close to a religious experience as I've ever come in my life. Like the song before that, but it brought it to another level.
ALSO DTE at MSG 03. the energy was so insane. The band stopped and acknowledged what a moment it was.

for some reason.... I hate to actually admit this... but, for some reason... I've never been a huge fan of GIVEN TO FLY - I know! I know! Crucify me, but it's true. However... MSG II changed all that. I was at MSG I and the song was fine. It's whatever. I figured they play it. It was nice... but for some reason, don't know why... maybe I was finally "ready" to hear it... the very next night that song gave me chills and moved me to tears. This is song is spectacular. I can't believe what I've been missing for ten years! I'm just glad this song finally found me.
