Had crappy seats in Sec 318....(thanks to my bad luck with 10c sale)

There was a lot of energy (in my section), but a lot of bimbos who had no clue about a lot of songs, specially Vitalogy and later. I was singing my heart out, and so were a few other people where I was sitting (standing). I would imagine the 10c ticket holders (i.e. floor and some other better sections) would have a bit of a different experience.

Overall crowd was great - there were a lot of cheers, lot of claps, choruses, etc....

Looking back at previous MSG 2003, I think this (overall) crowd was no different....felt good to see people as excited as they were five years ago.

Anyway - have much better seats (Sec 69 - on the left side of the stage) for tonight's show and hope to find some enthusiastic fans out there :)

I was in 343... seemed that most of that area didn't know anything past Vitalogy... other than "Given to Fly" and "Evolution".

I thought the crowd was great and lived up to the hype.
Still pretty static physically compare to Europe, but damn fucking loud!

Actually looking forward to my 'shitty' seats (back of the floor or back 1st sections' tonight so I can watch the crowd this time.

yea american crowds just don't jump up and down as much as european crowds... i dunno why. i'm a jumper... people tend to get annoyed by me. feck 'em.

when the floor is GA there tends to be more movement... still not as much as in europe but considerably more than when there are chairs on the floor.

You make it sound like being front row isn't something you've done over and over again :)

So not being front row wasn't all that bad was it? Maybe you'll give others a chance next time you win the lottery again :)

How did the crowd volume compare to Columbia? I thought that was one of the loudest american shows I've seen, but that might have been amplified by crap sound quality.

For me, having been there both nights, the crowd energy at its peak was about the same, but for MSG1, the peak was sustained virtually the whole night. I've never experienced anything remotely like that before. It was the best show I've ever seen by far.

I think it also depends on where you sit. Thought MSG 2 was much much more powerful. I was in Sec 69, on the left side of the stage (very close to it). The whole place was shaking...it was unbelievable. Crowd was much better than my Sec 318 from yesterday. Lots of jumping, screaming and singing. Incredible.

Yeah, you're right, that must be a factor. MSG1 I was in the front of sec 122 which was pretty great. MSG2 I was MUCH farther back and the sound quality didn't seem quite as good, nor was the crowd. But it's not all about the seats, because in DC I was 9th row center and while I'd probably give a limb to get that experience again of seeing Ed's and Mike's crowd interactions that close, it still didn't make it my best show.

I thought the crowd was the best I had ever seen. It was consistently loud which I think is where the problems usually are. Any crowd can be loud for Alive. Can you keep it up for Present Tense or Down or some other lesser known track? I took a look around a bunch of times and was amazed that even the 400s seemed to be on their feet the whole show which is definitely no easy task.

well..I WAS front row night 1  , middle of the floor mike side 5 rows up night 2 so great view of the crowd and still close.
Place was louder than Columbia (so was Camden 2), at least as loud for night 2 and there was a lot more jumpers. Several people commented they saw the 'balloon' and lighting rigs shake last night

i was in the stands on the side of the stage and there were times the actual stands were shaking as well. I think betterman was the peak of that. Awesome

I thought the night 1 crowd was good, but not great. I thought Tampa's crowd was every bit as loud. Night 2 crowd was insane though. Much better. I thought it was night and day crowdwise from 1 to 2.

Night 2 FTW.

As I am sure I will offend some NYers here, but there are too many people in that city that go there for the "scene" and not the music.

The diehard NYers are awesome, but sadly, the negative scenesters and hipsters ruin it.

as a new yorker, i'll say that the hipsters and want to be scene crowd arent looking for street cred at MSG. They are the clubkids and such. So i don't think that's accurate of an MSG show for Pearl Jam. Maybe some new act that could be true for....but i think everyone who goes to pearl jam is either a die hard or has a real interest to see them live from what they've heard. they might still only know the lyrics to jeremy and such, but they are loving their experience.

anyway i have been to a lot of shows at the garden and the crowd the first night was unbelievable, the stands where i was sitting (sec 79) were actually shaking
the electricity from the crowd was something i had never seen at the garden before

night 2 came real close to matching it though
and i was in not 10c seats (202 or 205 something like that)and the crowd areound me was still great

True...night one was full of energy and the boys feed off the crowd perfectly.
Night two had the better setlist in my opinion but the intensity wasn't as loud or strong as night one.

Both nights were special. I hope they released it as a combo DVD. :)

Definitely the loudest audiences I was ever in. In a good way. (Singin', not talkin'). Unforgettable.
