MLB All-Time Players Tournament:
Official Rules:
Spoiler: show
-If you want to team with another RM you can do so, or you can go at it by yourself.
-Make sure that you click on 'Subscribe to topic' this will let you know if a new post is made in this thread (especially do this when we start up the Draft thread).
-Signup Sheet will be split into 2 lists of 8. (NL and AL)
-First Come First Serve to fill the two leagues.
-First pick will happen will happen around Mid-July 2008.
-12 Hour Draft Pick Deadline.
-Duel Drafts (AL and NL) going on simultaneous, so you'll have to pay attention to what draft pick is taken in each league. Each League Draft will stay on the same Round, throughout the draft (i.e. if the NL Round 1 finishes before AL, then NL will have wait until AL finishes before Round 2 begins).
-Competitors that are in a certain league don't have to only draft that leagues players (i.e. AL competitors can pick either NL or AL, but no repeats, you will have to keep an eye on both drafts)
-Snake Style Draft Order (Rnd 1: 1-8, Rnd 2: 8-1, Rnd 3: 1-8, etc. etc.).
-Please PM me if you see your turn coming up soon, but you don't think you'll be on.
-PENALTY - If you miss your designated draft time and go over the deadline, the draft moves on, you'll be able to make-up your "missed" pick whenever, but the following round your draft order spot gets dropped to the bottom of that round.
-Draft Format: 1. Player 2. Position 3. Years Played
-The objective is to pick the best team possible using MLB players. The players may be active or retired. (http://www.baseball-reference.com/)
-Teams will be formed in the standard way of a baseball 12 Rounds (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OFs (combo of LF, RF, CF), 3 Ps (combo of SP, RP, CP), DH/PH).
-This isn't going to be normal single elimination tournament, this going to be a duel tournament, where the winner of the AL tourney competes against the winner of the NL tourney in the RM World Series.
-This is the Official Announcement/PM that you'll receive when it is your turn:
Code:
[b][u]ROUND #[/b][/u]
AL - [b]Name of Recent AL Team[/b] has made a pick at 12:00a/pm (EST).
NL - [b]Name of Recent NL Team[/b] has made a pick at 12:00a/pm (EST).

I don't know enough about MLB players, but I would give it a shot if I could team with someone.

It's going to be a little differently then the other RM tournaments

Short Form of Rules
It's going to be a Duel Draft (simultaneously)
American League and National League
You can sign up in either AL or NL
What league you sign up in doesn't inhibit the players you can choose, the only difference is that the AL teams will draft a D.H. and the NL will draft an extra bat off bench (a P.H.).
12 Rounds (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, 3 Pitchers (SP, RP, CP), 1 DH/PH)
Then after the draft they'll be Duel Brackets.
and the Champions AL and NL will face off in a World Series.

Nah, but there are a few that I definitely plan on picking. I should be a lot better at this than the NBA one. It'll be tough though. I have no idea who to pick first.

and also, isn't picking a ph essentially the same as picking a dh?

Yes, but in the NL, the pitcher has to bat for himself(remember that when taking your SP ;))

That's kinda silly though. I can only have one SP, so I'm gonna take a HOFer regardless if he can hit or not. Besides, how many good hitting pitchers are actually out there? I can think of maybe 5.

Sam if you want 3 SP, you can do so. I just designated it as 3 Pitchers.

I don't think the drafting should be happening concurrently. If we're drawing from the same pool there should be just a turn by turn draft through the major leagues. Alternating every turn between an AL team and an NL team might be a good idea to keep the leagues balanced.

This is a good idea.
