Seriously? psychobain, I mean we definitely share some tastes, but I just can't back ya up on this one. I think it seems pretty clear at this point (actually in my mind, they'd been there already) this has purely become a money making exercise and now because the holiday of Halloween sort of has a quasi-association with this series, almost more like they have to. And not out of any inspiration or want of having a genuine compelling story to tell that's worthy of further time. They're just trying to keep stretching this out and see if they can out-clever themselves, just for the sake of itself.
there will be six in total, in case you weren't aware

im with bain on this one. Why does every record, every band, every movie, every book need to be life changing? What happened to just some pure old fashino entertainment? mindless, dumb. horror. its fine. I enjoy it...if you dont...thats cool too...
I do enjoy it. For whatever reason. yea, the serious was shit after the second one as far as storytelling goes but ive never let the theater completely dissastisifed.
Its fun. Its stupid. I need that every now and then. I can spend 8 bucks on a beer up in vail valley here or i can take a lovely lady to a horror flick and have her storke my cock out of fear for a couple hours. Its cool

I wish Trick R Treat were coming out this year instead of another one of these. Or to put it more succinctly:

I get bored of the "lower your expectations" argument every time I don't like a film. I never hear this with music, but it pops up a LOT in the A&E forum. Maybe our expectations aren't that high, guy. If you enjoy a bit of mindless tardification, then enjoy it. It's like masturbating: we all do it, and men do it a lot more than women. Be proud.
But this particular crapfest appeals to me about as much as having Tom and Katie over to discuss philosophy.

its a fun movie
so fun movies cant be released anymore, only masterpieces?
when i go to see a Saw movie, im expecting to have a good and entertaning time, im not go expecting to blow my mind, change my life or something just want to have a good laugh and see those interesting traps and obvious, how the story will end
if the movie fails at that, ill bash it
i buy cheap beer cause i can enjoy it

Here, here. I first saw the trailer for Trick R Treat last year and just kinda sat quietly back in my chair with a "whoooaaa" sorta easing from my mouth. I'm not really typically a horror guy at all, but that's the most promising thing I've seen from the genre in quite awhile. I was SO bummed when they announced they were bumping it to '08, especially cause you know not like it'd play any other time, we'd have to wait alllll the way for Halloween to come back around (plus Anna Paquin has grown up veeeerrrrry nicely she's adorable and sexy as hell)
And I'm pretty much with what mcparadigm's saying, kinda the sad thing is that argument was tossed around quite a bit also as very recently as the Indy 4 thread, I believe it was. And it's a fair point.
