July 02, 2008 By eliminating the captchas we simplified the use of RapidShare's free services significantly. In addition, free-users can now upload and download bigger files (up to 200 megabyte). Anyhow, to protect RapidShare from congestion caused by automated downloading, we limited the maximum download speed for free‐users to 500 kilobit per second. To compensate for that, they do not have to wait anymore until starting a succeeding download.
Premium-users now profit from more flexibility regarding the download volume: It used to be limited to 10 gigabyte per day and can be "saved" now to a maximum of 50 Gigabyte. As a consequence, the volume that was not used is transferred to the following day automatically, up to a maximum of 50 gigabyte. If the complete download capacity is used up during one day, the premium-user is able to save another 10 gigabyte the following day.
About fucking time these guys did something great for the cheap ass free-loaders like myself! 200mb limit and no more waiting like forever after a download is great in my book...

Okay there was a website I found last year that was dedicated to fan re-edits of popular movies, things like taking the special edition DVDs and their deleted scenes, but smoothly editing them back into the main movie, and doing a full reauthor of the movie, so you were DL'ing DVD-ready files, not simply .avi files or anything. I bring it up because the primary way they had of distributing the files was thru Rapidshare. I always wanted to get a couple (they had a couple hundred titles), but Rapidshare's old setup made it a huge headache.
Problem is I can't seem to find the page again, now we can take advantage of their new setup. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
wooohooo!! Damn I've gotten so used to using Firefox now for all my browsing, I completely forgot about all the old bookmarks I'd set in my IE. Thankfully I still had that one laying around in there.
And btw, thought I'd mention, for what it's worth... according to these new rules, it says you can DL at a speed up to 500kb/s now on Rapidshare. Well, on my Verizon DSL my top speed can only get up to around 180kb/s anyway, but I've been DLing a few things now over the last hour, and I keep topping out at only around 100kb/s. Not quite sure what's up with that.
