Media Matters for America, a progressive media watch dog group, discovered that during a Fox News broadcast that they had been distorting the faces of New York Times reporters. Fox News, angry about reports Jacques Steinberg had written in the New York Times while working under Steve Reddicliffe, altered their photos for broadcast. Fox claimed that Reddicliffe has had an axe to grind with Fox for being fired from a company that Fox owns, “TV Guide”. During “Fox and Friends” on July 2, Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade hosted the segment in which they called the two reporters “attack dogs”. Fox took the two reporter’s photos, which had been digitally altered, then superimposed them on a poodle and a man holding the dog on a leash. The pictures of the two reporters had yellowed teeth, enlarged noses or thinned noses, hairlines adjusted, and other facial features altered. These photos from Media Matters show their actual photos and the image that Fox News displayed on the air. You can see from the video of the live broadcast that Media Matters did not alter these photos, these are clearly the images that Fox News tries to pass off as real.
Here is a video of the Fox and Friends Broadcast where the images were aired:

You know, I get the "funny" part of it, but isn't it a bit alarming to anyone that this is a "news" organization? I mean, what else do you think they distort? I know it's Fox and we've come to expect this sort of thing, but doesn't it continue the degradation of American journalism on the whole?

I find most cable news shows to be atrocious. Fox doesn't seem to be much worse than the others, unfortunately.
I don't have cable, but I hope you're wrong. I'd be curious to know if CNN or MSNBC has resorted to juvenile pranking of those who have spoken out against the channels.

Eh, the juvenille pranking is just another example of sensationalizing everything. I don't recall the last time I watched cable news and felt better informed afterwards.

I snipped my cable long ago for this very reason. I have turned completely to the net for my news. I'm sure it's as full of lies as the cable shows but at least I get to pick what to be lied to about.
Fox was free in Canada (not sure if it still is) for a while a couple of years ago. They were launching it here and making it available to everyone first (first taste is free right?). I gave it a fair and balanced chance but IMO they make a mockery of the profession and are as full of shit as any other evangelical douchebag on television. I did think that everyone was exaggerating about the rediculousness of the channel before I had the chance to watch it for myself. Has there ever been a bigger piece of shit on TV news than Bill O'Reilly? (Babs and Geraldo would be close seconds)
