I'm always up for Oceans and got it for a 2nd time in 3 WPB shows. BUT! I've always wanted 'Release'. I was soooo hoping they opened with it June 11th. And shit... I got Oceans.

Also (I'm on meds from a fall, so I'm sorry I'm a little loopy and posting a lot today), what is the best opener all around? is it Oceans? Release? or.... how about 'Of The Girl'? "Sometimes' is a great song...

i just attended one PJ show (about a week ago) and Hard To Imagine was a perfect, gorgeous opener and not because it's a raritie, because they were all rarities to me.
but depending on the situation, Long Road or Go would probably be great.

Pretty much always Release.

Occassionally I feel like a Long Road but otherwise Release.

It usually doesn't matter so long as it is a 'traditional' opener and not just a fast song. I was so bummed at Merriweather 98 when they opened with Hail Hail even though I love that song. I need a slow song to ease me into the set.

Oceans is the opener I dream about getting one day.

Even Flow - I'd love to hear that open up more often, it's been 8 years since it's opened a show, that's long enough...

I've only ever had Go as an opener, and that was fucking awesome. So much for "easing your way into the set"! :lol:

If I had a choice I'd pick Wash as an opener, but having said that Long Road would be cool (check out Perth 2003), and Release would just be Epic (MSG II from the other week just sounds amazing on the aud).

go
animal
last exit
breakerfall
small town
long road (finally)

Songs I'd personally love to hear PJ open with (that I haven't gotten as an opener):

1. Of The Girl
2. Long Road
3. Present Tense
4. Blood

I always thought Blood would be a killer opener. Not something to do on a regular basis but maybe like once a tour, or once every other tour. It's like a double shot espresso followed by a shot of bourbon to kick things off.

my thoughts exactly. And in '98 WPB they opened with Corduroy. Great song, but the mellow one is always the greatest way to open.

Present Tense might be good. It follows the same slow to fast start as all the others.

Yeah, me too. I really want to hear Release, Wash, Oceans, Long Road, Sometimes or Can't Keep one day.

My openers have been:

MFC
Small Town
Porch

Not bad, but not really "classic" PJ openers either. I think Porch worked the best of those three, with the slower intro it makes a pretty good opener...but still not as good as any of those in the list above.

I've seen Release so many times, I think 5 or 6.

Never seen Oceans. WASH WAS FUCKING AMAZING. I can't believe some people have the audacity to call it a weak opener.
