I had never really gotten into this song until a few days ago. It is great. It and "Two Of Us" are a wonderful combo.

Pretty underrated tune. The drums and guitars are intoxicating. Lennon's vocal delivery is classic. Good thread, Nate.

Yeah, I still don't like Let It Be all that much, but it does show you what great performers they were. Lennon just kills it.

I prefer Let it Be:Naked to the original Let it Be. I can't think of where the two differ in this song off the top of my head right now, but the CD is worth it just to get a tolerable version of The Long and Winding Road.

Thanks for reminding me to check that out, I think it's the only Beatles thing I haven't heard.

Let it Be < the 6 albums preceding it (not counting MMT/YS, which are compiled)

Some okay stuff there, but...

Let it Be < Plastic Ono Ram Must Pass

edit: totally agreed (i took the < for a > )
in fact, Let it Be has great songs and Dig a Pony is an "ok" tune in my book but the playing on this album is quite sloppy at times - i'm sure that there are better takes in the vault. I've Got A Feeling from the Anthology for instance (although it's incomplete) - its drive far outshines the album's version.

All Things Must Pass alone kicks Let It Be's ass all up and down the street and I love Let It Be. I've written 10 pages on Let It Be and could have wrote at least 20 more.

Dig A Pony is the shit, but I almost like Dig It a little more. Depends on my mood I guess, but yeah, its an underrated tune for sure.

Don't Let Me Down is probably the best song from this period/session, followed by I Me Mine and then Get Back/Let It Be.

For You Blue is a personal favourite, though.

I recall hearing George playing a song called "If Not For You." I know Dylan did it, but I don't know who wrote it. That's definitely a gem from the later Beatles era.

Not Beatles era. It's from All Things Must Pass.

It loses me at about the 50th time John says the title.

Not Beatles era. It's from All Things Must Pass.

George was writing All Things Must Pass during the Let It Be/Abbey Road sessions. See "All Things Must Pass" from the Apple Sessions/Anthology 3
