Have you seen Princess Mononoke, Theresa?

It's really good. I'm not into anime series but I do check some movies, especially the ones by Hayao Miyazaki. His anime movies are usually really good.

Not all of them are cutesy and unrealistic. One of my favorite movies is Akira, and it was one of the first really big ones in America. It's ultra violent.

Yeah Princess Mononoke is good to start with- there interactions between humans and animals in that one but like most of Miyazaki's animes, it's not really like watching a cartoon, more like a real movie. The characters are developed very well. There are more dialogues than there are action.

Oh back to your original question about the nose.

*I'm not sure if this is accurate or not*
I believe, it's a racial/ethnic thing. Many Asian countries are known to use derogatory terms for Westerners and Caucasians are their big nose, especially the French colonizers in Indochina(Southeast Asia). Most of the characters with small/no nose are probably Japanese/Asian, but you will see some characters with big nose- perhaps those are Westerners.

But then you have to question the big eyes as well with the Japanese characters?

Anyway, I'm not to sure if this theory is true...

because i was a middle school/early high school age guy. sailor moon was sort of seen as a "girly" show. my friends were off listening to their punk bands and beatinig the hell out of each other in mosh pits while i sat at home and dreamed of being tuxedo mask.

Mononoke is great.

This new Gotham Knight thing looks pretty badass.

Don't know if this counts, but I also love Vampire Hunter D.
