I've loved the band for years, but sometimes I question where they stand on certain issues. They are so politically ambivelent to most issues, but i def. see somewhat of an LGBT theme in most of their songs from the 1996-2001 period. Faithfull, Present Tense, Sometimes, Pilate, Around the Bend, Of the girl, Rival. Though I've never actually heard eddy vedder speak out publically against the injustices that the gays face in america. thoughts?

what's LGBT? really, I haven't the faintest idea what it's meant to stand for.

I am nervous to ask what you feel the phrase "I send you off around the bend," an obsession with owning a dog, or anything about Rival have to do with being gay...but I'd say a song about a guy filling his nights with thoughts of a girl is probably only gay because Stone wrote it.
In all seriousness, this band would probably come out in favor of tolerance towards just about anything...even people addicted to sex acts invented by an inebriated David Lee Roth...if it were painted as a liberal issue. And thinking adults know that homosexuality is a lightweight and easily accepted thing.

regardless of any music they've put out, i thought it was pretty obvious that they support just about any rights that people may have a need for. they may not speak out about it as much because there are, at least in ed's opinion, a lot more pressing issues right now (such as bush getting re elected and the war raging on)
i'll leave you with this:
