I mean seriously, and it's just virtually impossible not to love this guy.

He has a smallish but great role working with the king of modern directors of David Fincher in ZODIAC. Then a film I just watched for the first time a couple days ago, CHARLIE BARTLETT. Pretty good, very much "Pump Up The Volume"-meets-"Ferris Bueller". And you have to wonder if the role was written with Downey in mind, considering the character (and I got a crush on Kat Dennings, who plays the gothy chick that's his daughter). IRON MAN I think pretty much speaks for itself, welcome the new coolest superhero on the block. He's got a ton of buzz on this way out there character in TROPIC THUNDER next month.

And to top it all off, he's now been cast as Guy Ritche's SHERLOCK HOLMES. I so can't wait for this. I'm a huge Holmes fan, and I'm not at all inspired by the comedic take which will star Will Ferrell. Ritchie will do a more serious take (though already from what I'm hearing it will be a bit more of a balance of brawn with the brains).

I looooooooooved KISS KISS BANG BANG. Totally came and went in the theatres but I bought the DVD without even seeing it, and loved it just as I thought I might. Kilmer and Downey had such great chemistry, and it was the first Michelle Monaghan movie I saw, fell totally in love with her.

I happen to think my older brother (about 39 now) looks quite a bit like him. Especially in the one Elton John video, if you've ever seen, I think it's called "I Want Love", it's simply Downey walking thru a house lip synching to the song, the camera right on him as he goes, in that he looks so much like my brother it's freaky. Shame I don't have a photo here of my bro or I'd post it up, see if I'm crazy or not.

Robert Downey Jr. was the third former cast member of Saturday Night Live to be nominated for an Academy Award.

The more you know....

Also, he was great in Zodiac. Stole every scene he was in.

Ya know I'd completely forgotten he ever even was an SNL cast member until I heard it mentioned I think in the course of some press just a few days ago. I bet lots of casual SNL fans of my age (32) but certainly even younger would be shocked to learn he's a show alumni.

My brother is a bit of an SNL fanatic, so I know more than I want to.

Meh, I'd still go ahead and complete it if I were you. Especially if you really wanna be a professional screenwriter, believe me it'll only help to have multiple completed ones you can pull out of a drawer for someone.

But with the movie, yea there are definitely some plot holes that I guess you just chalk up to suspension of disbelief. Like, (at least this is what I gathered from watching it) the "office hours" he takes with kids in the boys' bathroom, they don't take place after school's out, but rather during school. Well, all's I know is back when I was in high school we had about 4 minutes to get from each class to the next inbetween, and yet when they show the sequences of him meeting with kids, there's a line of like 20+ students waiting outside the door to talk. Something tells me he's not getting them all in before their next class congregates  :P
