That show blew me away. My expectations were SO surpassed. I didn't think a solo show could be that powerful.
Ed was in such a good and chatty mood. Seemed genuinely relieved to be in a civilized place (sorry Boston- just paraphrasing Ed). The crowd around me was pretty quiet, above me in the balcony they were singing and cheering like crazy. There did seem to be an a-hole or two in the orchestra yelling out stuff when he was talking about his recent ailment and medications, but all and all, a really respectful crowd I thought.
It was hilarious early on when a distinctly male voice yelled out 'I love you, Eddie' and he replied, 'I'd say I love you too but I can't see exactly who I'm talking to and I don't want my other boyfriends to get jealous.'
As for the real stuff-- the music-- it was really phenomenal. His voice sounded great. I was so thrilled to hear SOMETIMES- never thought I would and I love that song. All the ITW stuff was great. The guy next to me said after Porch that it was worth the price of the ticket alone... personally, I thought ARC was worth the price of admission alone, and more. If Ed's voice moves you, you have GOT to hear that. Let My Love Open the Door was fantastic. Masters of War was another highlight. Just a great experience- go if you can!!

Sounds sick. There's still a part of me that thinks it won't be as powerful as a full-band show, but it's nice to hear that he can still deliver it with a solo performance. This makes me very excited for the Montreal shows this weekend!

Such a powerful show with many amazing moments. It is a testament to Vedder as an artist that he can command a theater by himself like he did last night. My girlfriend was in tears during Around the Bend, and he had us laughing out loud more than a few times throughout the night.
The music speaks for itself, and some highlights for me were:
Sometimes - one of my favorite songs that I never thought I would get to see played live.
Millworker - he was playing the guitar so furiously at the end of the song.
Let My Love Open The Door - (obviously).
All of the Into The Wild stuff sounded great, and in reality every song was a highlight. I have a new appreciation for I am Mine now - never really liked the full band versions.
If anyone has an extra Playbill please PM me - I didn't know they were handing them out until it was too late.
comparing/bashing audiences night to night is one of the oldest jokes in the Vedder playbook. He was 100% correct about the obnoxious crowd in Boston for night 1 (during which he said he didn't think he'd encounter the loud, shouting assholes until New York )
It's interesting what he says when the shoe is on the other foot. Take these comments with a grain of salt. People learned their lesson and the crowd for night 2 was a lot more respectful.

Have fun again tonight you guys.
Yeah, I know you're right about that. I read what he said about New York when he was in Boston. And I know all the local references and stories and comparisons to other places are always pretty manufactured (at any show, not just Ed). My husband was saying last night he always finds that stuff so "fake" ("it's so great to be back in ---") But I guess the New Yorker in me couldn't resist throwing that comment in there anyway.

though it was funny in LA when he got a bit carried away at that game and said "Fuck San Diego"
