Harrington was picked by the Detroit Lions with the third pick overall in the 2002 NFL Draft. Harrington immediately became the Lions' starting quarterback during his rookie season, finishing that year with a 50.1 completion percentage, a ratio of 12 touchdowns to 16 interceptions, and a decidedly subpar 59.9 quarterback rating; the Lions finished the season with a 3-13 record. Harrington went on to post some of the worst yards per attempt seasons ever by a regular QB. Among those performances were his 2002 and 2003 campaigns, the two worst YPA showings in the NFL or AFL since 1960 among QBs with 425 or more attempts in a season.[4]
On October 23, 2005, Lions coach Steve Mariucci chose to bench Harrington in favor of Jeff Garcia for the team's game against the Cleveland Browns to try and provide a spark to the team's 2-3 start. The Lions won 13-10, and Garcia rushed for Detroit's only touchdown. After yet another dismal offensive performance, Coach Mariucci declared that Garcia would remain the starter.

Get this shit out of here.
I gotta give credit - I have only seen one story about Padraig's achievements being slurred by Tiger not being there, and it was an awful piece. Padraig won the Open in 2007 with Tiger there so we know he's capable of doing it..and the golf he played down both back 9's of the last two majors deserves all the plaudits it gets.
Move aside man boobs Mickelson - Padraig is #2 and is part of the reason USA are going to get smoked in the Ryder Cup.
American Ryder Cup debutant Boo Weekley has said that Padraig Harrington will be targeted at next month's match in Louisville.
"He's got a target on his back - yes, sir," said Weekley, one of three new caps already in the United States side. Four more could come when captain Paul Azinger names his wild cards on September 2.
"I want to beat anybody I tee it up against and it would be an honour to beat him.
"I'm ready to go out now. It doesn't matter who Paul puts me against."

He's having a great year. The sad thing is that Phil will still get more attention before and during every future major even thought they both have 3. Paddy gets no love.

Not over here. The media has such a boner for sags even though he hasn't done jack lately in majors.

If Mickelson had Harrington's heart and drive, he'd be 6-7-8 majors up now. If Sergio had it as well, he'd have 3-4.
You know a champion when they do their best work under pressure. To hole those last three putts on 16/17/18, when missing one probably loses him the tournament, is incredible. As is the tee shot on 17 and the seven iron from the rough on 18.
USA is going to get owned like no tomorrow in the Ryder Cup. Weekley will blow up, Curtis is an iffy one and Anthony Kim...I love Kim but I think he's still struggling to keep that emotional/erratic side of himself in check. I'd be picking Stricker, Rocco, Zach Johnson and *unsure* for the four captains picks

oh its an achievement. back to back majors is huge. but still, the best golfer in the history of the universe was NOT there. this would've been an even bigger deal had Tiger been in the field. just saying.
