This night could have been renamed "Neil Young cover night". Eddie played Helpless, Long May You Run, Old Man (on drums - Liam on lead vox), and RITFW. What a show.

WOW. what a show that was. i wish there were boots of this.

all the neil songs were great, esp. helpless (first time ever?) and ritfw on acoustic ed solo, and ed on drums for old man...although it woulda been cooler if he sung some chorus. those last 2 songs were played after arc so it was a great surprise and change from the usual arc hard sun closer combo. I think we clocked in at 2.5 hours too if not a bit more.

other highlights included patriot, you're true on uke, a great singalong of let my love open the door, and an unplugged song my liam and the girl during their set where the audience actually stayed quite so we could all hear since they didn't use mics or amps.

oh oh oh, and for like, the last 5 or so songs of the final set, except arc, everyone was standing, which hasn't happened at any of the other canadian shows.

awesomeness.

So Liam came out for Old Man where Ed played drums, and then it went back to Ed completely solo for RITFW, and then they all played Hard Sun?? Did I get that right?

Sounds like a killer end to that show!

Liam and E.J. left the stage after Old Man and Ed did Free World solo on acoustic guitar.

Old Man was awesome by the way. Eddie played the beat a little differently, almost giving it a reggae feel.

Helpless was the highlight of the night for me. The background vocals were beautiful and Eddie nailed it. You can tell he's seen The Last Waltz, because he added in a lot of those "baby, baby, baby...sing with me somehow" parts.

I'm not as big into NY as others on the board but those two and Heart of Gold I've wondered how Ed would sound singing.
