Hi all. I've come across something PJ related that I know nothing about and want to find out what you all know about it.

A trader asked me to convert some DAT tapes for him, which among them was the PJ 3/4/92 show. At the end of the tape was some audio that sounded like a radio broadcast. After listening for a bit Eddie mentions that "This is Monkey Wrench Radio".

What I have is about 1 hour long. What exactly is this, when was it broadcast, and aside from the studio songs they play is it allowed to be traded? Does this already exist amongst the masses?

Thanks.

shane

Sounds like a bootleg from the 1/31/98 radio broadcast of Monkeywrench Radio.

Does it have Eddie saying, "M....W.....M....W.....M....W....Monkey....Wrench" before saying that it's Monkeywrench Radio?

If so, those aren't studio tracks, they're Pearl Jam performing for the radio broadcast.

From twofeetthick.com:

01/31/98 - Monkeywrench Radio: Seattle, WA [235m]
audience: millions?
set 1: Do the Evolution, Given to Fly, Pilate, Wish List
set 2: Brain of J, In Hiding, Spin the Black Circle
set 3: Nothingman
notes: This radio broadcast originated from Seattle and was relayed to any radio stations wanting to carry it. This show consisted, not only of the three live PJ sets listed above, but also other live band performances (Zeke, Mudhoney, Tuatara, Brad), chat with friends, phone calls and a few records, very much like the previous Self-Pollution radio broadcast. Very cool way to premier 'In Hiding' [thanks!!!]. This show was very widely broadcast and included many cybercasts. Some stations dropped the show during Matt Lukin's phone message; others dropped out toward the end.

I loved listening live to the radio hearing that. Such a fuckin' hippy thing to do. They had Foo Fighters on (I think) and interviews with other musicians. Ed was fucked up (both broadcasts) and they had just introduced Jack, so they were playing some of his songs. They weren't playing very tight though, but it was very fun to listen to. I used to have both on tape somewhere from two different years. They should do it again.

Take a look at this. I haven't had any new material on it in years, and have been too lazy to fix my feedback form.

http://www.monkeywrenchradio.org

or get a phrase from the audio and search google with

"the phrase" site:monkeywrenchradio.org

if i don't have it transcribed, it's new to me.
