so I've only had the chance to listen to one of the first leg boots and I missed the east coast leg cuz of RL stuff. What have I been missing?

i had somewhat low expectations because of all the times ive heard ed flub during pre-sets. but for the most part he played really well. Like warehouse said he really has been praticing. He plays like 5 different instruments and he plays them all well. His stories have been very entertaining and most werent even political. It was really cool to hear his influences and where he got ideas for songs and such. I still prefer an electric PJ show, but this was great and a much different experience. Also Liam is a cool opener, he's pretty good with the looping, but he's no Keller!

I never thought anything would top 2006 for me regarding Pearl Jam, but this year exceeded my expectations in part because of the EV shows I was fortunate enough to see. I thought the 2006 PJ shows were a little better than the ones I saw this year, but seeing Eddie perform on his own, tell stories, joke around, etc. with such intimacy was like a dream come true.

I doubt we'll ever see anything like this again unless the band dissolves or Eddie records another album on his own. Based on the character of a lot of the fans, I'm also not so sure anything will ever be released, but overall, I'm one extremely grateful and satisfied fan.

i thought it was simply great to see ed in a small venue and interact with fans the way he did. he seemed genuinely happy. he was witty, reflective and quirky, but in a good way. i think for him personally it was a sense of satisfaction to be able to come full circle and return to play these small venues. it's like a child who returns home after years of being away to find nothing much had changed. i was surprised at how at ease he seemed with it all.

the fans at my show (DC, second night) were generally well behaved, except for a few knuckleheads. don't come to an ev solo show and get hammered and expect that it's perfectly fine to act like you were at a full-blown PJ gig...show a little decorum.

the solo show is amazing. i saw milwaukee. way too many dickheads. that said, eddie needs to handle it better. by constantly acknowledging them, even in telling them to shut the fuck up, he encouraged them. i am so grateful he didn't punish all of us by cutting the set short. we got 28 great songs and no more.

eddie needs some new pants. in addition to milwaukee, i saw the 2 msg shows this summer. he wore the same white pants at every show. what the fuck is he going to do after labor day? i know he has the money; see the next point.

the price of souvenirs should be reduced. i didn't mind the high ticket prices. you definitely get what you pay for. but $35 for a poster or a t-shirt? how about $35 for both? liam finn's stuff didn't cost that much and looked to be just as good in quality. i wanted to buy the batman poster, but i couldn't justify it.

i will never forget the experience. i hope to have it again in 10 or 15 years, but not sooner. and yes, his guitar skills since playing not for you on saturday night live have increased exponentially.

I thought the show I went to on the west coast was great. There was no better place to see a show than Santa Cruz. Eddie was very funny and open. I felt he really tried to play his best. The west coast shows were more like a campfire experience. I did not get a chance to go to the east coast show I planned on attending because of mono, but it seems the crowds for the east coast swing were very unruling to say the least.

I was telling a friend tonight about how great it was... and he asked...
"So what NY songs is he covering on these shows"

and it hit me...

WHERE IS THE NEIL YOUNG COVER?????
and the Who for that matter???

hes pulling out 3 Dylan and 2 Cat Stevens and now 2 Beatles at some of these shows, with no Who or NY? LOL

the NY one really strikes me odd that he wouldnt do a lil one tribute to Neil. Especially with Neil doing the solo shows? (or have I missed a NY song in some of the sets? I dont recall any anyway)

anyways, to answer the main question... I came across very impressed... his guitar work is indeed REALLY good, and proves the point that their are 3 guitar players in Pearl Jam who are better than Kurt Cobain  (not a dig a Kurt, but a dig at those great lists that put Cobain in the top 10 and McCready at like 93 LOL)

He was alot more open as well, I would definetly go see a solo show again... and I was one who said a year or so ago before any hints at a solo tour came out, who said it might not be a great idea... something like this in another handful of years would be great... a short solo tour in an off year for PJ... now the ultimate would be an Ed and Neil tour... just the 2 of them... whos up for that huh :)

It's hard to have any real impressions after seeing just one show and not having heard a complete east coast bootleg (yet?). But the one show I did see, the first of the tour, was really good and a special night. I'd definitely go again. I prefer the whole band, but Ed by himself is really good.
