Just got home from this show, and all I can say is holy shit
Blew Milwaukee out of the water and then some. Crowd was great, Eddie was great, setlist was great.
Ship Song
Hurt
Re-worked Betterman.

Unbelievable.
He's going to have a hard time topping this tomorow night.

Is there a setlist for Milwaukee anywhere?

WTF???????????????

I have always dreamt Eddie would perform Ship Song entirely. Cause it's still the song I want to get married to. I considered taking the Red Rocks version. I had always hoped it would return after it featured on a 99 soundcheck (Tibet concert?). The time is now!!!

This had to be expected. Ending his tour in his hometown. You knew it'd blow every other show out of the water.

A little song by a little guy called little Nick Cave. Little Eddie played it once at a litle venue called Red Rocks.

So I came to the Chicago I thread to find the Milwaukee setlist. To which thread do I have to go to find the Chicago I setlist?

* I know it was posted here, but I thought it was funny that Milwaukee for a time was the only setlist posted.

Ship Song was amazing. I wouldnt have dreamed that he would play it. and then Hurt was surreal. really odd to see him playing a song you would never even imagine. he played it more in the Johnny Cash style obviously on solo/acoustic.

Parting Ways was the other highlight. sounded great on 2 electrics.

Better Man was terrible. like a poor man's bar cover done by someone who has never heard the song before.

Ed was totally appreciative of the crowd. only a handful of idiots (mostly female voices tonight) screaming out while he was talking.

I think every one of Ed's guitars now has a Cubs sticker on it!

This show blew me away, and I have no idea how he is gonna top it tonight. the only thing I can think of is an especially long show. I cant wait.

a couple more notes...

Ship Song was played on acoustic with harmonica.

Ed told 2 great stories, one about his first concert 30 years ago at the Auditorium Theatre, and he said he went up to that seat in the gallery during the day. you have to see the gallery at the Aud to believe how far up it is.

the second story was about being at Cubs camp in AZ a few years ago, and meeting Ernie Banks, and Ernie told him that Wrigley Field needs a song, and that's how he came up with "Someday We'll Go All The Way."

Ed was visibly moved by (1) the reception that the crowd gave Thomas Young, and (2) the ovations at the end of each set. he mentioned several times how great the crowd was and after 2 songs he said you are already better than the 2% of assholes in Milwaukee.

before Hurt, Ed said this is by another songwriter from Chicago, which Trent is not to the best of my knowledge (Cleveland). afterwards he said something like "for Trent." I'll have to hear this again to really realize how incredible it was.
