US Release Dates

Image

XBOX 360: 9/14/2008
PS3: 10/19/2008
Wii: 11 /16/2008
PS2: 11/18/2008

For PS3 and 360 users all previously purchased DLC songs from the original Rock Band will work in Rock Band 2. Also, if you have a Rock Band 1 disk, you can transfer every song from that disk onto your harddrive and use those songs in Rock Band 2 for the price of 4.99. Every song with the exception of Enter Sandman (Metallica), Run to the Hills (Iron Maiden), and Paranoid (Black Sabbath). Nothing has been announced concerning PS2 or Wii but I would assume because of their storage limitations they will not have this feature. The Wii version of Rock Band 2 though will have all of the features of the 360 and PS3 versions unlike the first Rock Band including DLC. Another nice thing about Rock Band 2, all of the instruments will work with Guitar Hero World Tour and all Guitar Hero World Tour instruments will work with Rock Band 2, at least with the 360 and PS3 versions. I have no idea whether they work with the Wii and PS2.

The setlist: (All songs are Master tracks this time around)

Instruments:

The Guitar:
http://www.breakitdownblog.com/rock-ban ... orld-tour/

Image

As someone who hated the original Rock Band guitar, it sounds like they have fixed the problems with it, mainly the strum bar. It is no longer "mushy" and it returns to center much more quickly. For the hardcore geeks out there. They are also releasing an actual Fender guitar with its insides gutted and replaced with the Rock Band buttons and strummer.

The Drums
http://www.breakitdownblog.com/rock-ban ... ended-for/

Image

The new drums are pretty similar to the old drums, but now they are sensitive to how hard you hit them and the sound coming out of your speakers will reflect that intensity. They have more bounce and are not as loud. Also you now have the option to buy separate cymbals that you can attach to the drum-set. I think they are about 5 dollars each.

Image

Now if you really want to Geek out, there is the Ion drum-set which is an actual electronic drum-set minus the brain. You can buy that separately if you want to take your pretend drumming into a more realistic direction. It works with both the game and as a separate drum-set with the brain. 300 dollars for the obsessed.

Damn all that work and I completely failed. I suck at searching. Sad face :( But really that was a setlist announcement, and I wanted to put all of the pertinent information for all those interested in the game on various platforms in one place.

I had to hold back on Paramore and Alanis, but I really wanted to bold them. I ran out of ink on Ratt.

thanks,

I think your picture answered my question about the cymbals. I see they have colour spots corresponding to the pads they are over. I would think this means you will always use 4 pads only in any song. If you use the cymbal, you won't use the drum pad of the corresponding colour. I was wondering how they were going to integrate the cymbals on previosly released songs.

By that logic, the Guitar Hero World Tour drum kit has more pads. 3 drum pads and 2 cymbals.

So, GH's drumkit now looks better with more pads and I really like the new guitar they have. I think I have finally made my choice.

Does anyone know about cross compatibility of instruments? ... I mean controllers.

The instruments for both the PS3 and 360 versions of the games will be compatible with each other. In Guitar Hero World Tour for instance, if you use the Rock Band 2 drums then they made it so the charts still have all the notes but instead of 6 columns they will be condensed into 5. So if you want both games, just pick the instruments you like better and they will work with either game.

As for the cymbals on Rock Band 2. They basically work just like the corresponding colored drum pad, so you could either hit the blue cymbal or the blue drum and you will have the same result. It is just up to the player to decide how they want to play it.

Yeah it kind of sucks that Activision and MTV seem to be battling for exclusives on certain artists.

It's quite an investment for something that gets old after a while.

so 84 songs on disc + 55 songs from RB1 + 20 songs as a free download + backwards compatibility with all DLC = a minimum of 159 songs!

I don't care how nice the GHWT drum set is. That's a lot of f'n songs!

I hate the idea of staggered release dates. I didn't realize this came out on the 360 in a couple of weeks.
