Think we'll have an election this fall? I think Harper really wants to get to the polls before the american election. I'm an NDP member, though I do like Dion.

Harper and his incompetent cohort must be kicked out - his track record has to be one of the worsts i witnessed in my lifetime. that being said, NDP would be the best thing to happen imo but i'm afraid it won't happen. and although i'm quite patriotic to my province, the Bloc is fucking useless. oh no, it's fucking useful for the conservatives. so while i'm not impassioned about any party, i'll probably vote strategically against the conservatives, even though i'd much rather encourage the green party.

I'll probably vote NDP like I always do. The Conservatives have to go, but I don't feel like voting for Dion as Prime Minister. The Liberals need a more electable leader I think.
Well the Governor General cancelled her trip that was supposed to be sept 6 - 11 or something. Good chance Harper will be talking to her in a few days and then election in October.
everythings skewed to the left some. the conservative party of canada would be to the left of the republicans, the liberals would be to the left of the democrats, the new democratic party would be further to the left. then the greens fit in somewhere, they are trying to win their first seat in Canada, and in Quebec there is the Bloc Quebecois.
I have been an NDP member for 6 years or so and will be voting for them though I doubt they can win my riding. The green party has been polling at almost the same levels as the NDP. I would like to see them get a seat though I disagree with a number of their policies outside of environmental issues. I think alot of young people that "support" them would too if they looked deeper into their platform past the environmental stuff.
Anyways theres probably no major issue outside of the environment and the economy. This has been a conservative lead minority government thats lasted for 3 years, too long in my opinion, and every party seems to be ready to go. So overall it will be somewhat of a referendum on Prime Minister Stephan Harper and Liberal Leader Stephane Dion and his "green shift". The green shift is a carbon tax paired with income tax cuts to balance it out.

so... are we getting this green tax or not. I can't tell where Dion is going. Stupid flip-floppers. I do not like Dion as the Liberal candidate. I don't think he can handle himself in public or speak loudly enough to even have a debate with someone. However, nobody likes Harper so I would say it's back to the Liberals.
Is Layton still the NDP guy? Since they have so little chance of ever being a majority, I stop paying attention. I actually do enjoy him much more than any of the other parties' candidates though. Plus, he's pretty good with Mercer.
Harper is a robot. He needs to be turned off.
At the end of the day, I doubt that anything that happens here is going to make a lick of difference on a Continental scale so... why bother?
This should be a public referendum. Fuck separatism, fuck outsourcing, fuck it all. Martin started the process and all fingers point to Harper supporting it. This is from a report published by the CFR that calls for action by 2010.

Greens woo independent MP, May now in leaders' debates
OTTAWA–The Green Party has wooed Independent MP Blair Wilson to its ranks, giving the party its first politician in the House of Commons and as a result, a spot in the televised election debates.
Because the party now has a MP, Green Party Leader Elizabeth May will be entitled to participate in the televised leaders’ debates in the election that is expected to be called within days.
“Today we make history,” May said in a news release.
“I am grateful for Mr. Wilson’s principled belief that the Green Party deserves a voice in Parliament and for his firm commitment to democracy. With a Green MP sitting in the House of Commons, it will now be impossible to exclude the Green Party from the televised leaders’ debates in the next election.
Wilson, the MP for West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country, left the Liberal Party under a cloud after questions were raised about his personal finances. He has sat as an independent MP since the fall of 2007.
The move is a stunning strategic victory for May, who stands to gain important nationwide exposure in the French and English debates – which Wilson suggested motivated his move to the Green Party.
“Democracy is threatened when legitimate national leaders are barred from what is arguably the single most important political event in an election – the televised debates,” Wilson said in the release issued by the Green Party.
“It is shocking that the Green Party was excluded from the debates in the past, but by joining the Green Party, I can help guarantee that this travesty will not be repeated in the next election,” he said.
“More now than ever before, it is critical that the voice of the Green Party is heard. I am looking forward to working hard as Canada’s first Green MP.”

I think we have a distinct lack of good leaders. I used to respect Layton until he wanted Canada to pull out of Afghanistan immediately, regardless of UN commttments.
Dion has trouble selling his vision to his own party let lone the country.
Harper makes too many rash seeming decisions. I like that we have a balanced budget now over being hugely over-taxed. I don't like how confrontational he is. It's bad politics and bad for the country.
Upon learning that Harper plays cards with his kids and jams on the piano, he's got my vote. Why didn't he mention that in an extremely creepy commercial three years ago? He could have had a majority government the first time 'round.

when it comes to things that don't really relate to leading a country, Jack Layton seems much more kewl than Steedees Herpes.
Harper is clearly the best out of the bunch, which is really not saying much.
Harper is a sleezebage. couldn't trust him for a second and i'm really hoping he doesn't get a majority. these art funding cuts would be just the beginning of his nonsense.
I actually like Dion a good amount, seems like a stand up guy and hopefully he can prove himself this election like he has in the past (quebec sovereignty, winning the leadership). though i will be voting for jack layton and probably volunteering for the ndp.
