Drummer Jonny Quinn revealed some details about the new album in an Interview with the Belfast Telegraph:
"It's still very much melody-based, but it's different too in ways from the other albums. It's hard to know what everyone will make of it but we're happy. I'd go as far as to say I think it's our best album yet."
He goes further, saying that "the pressure had been on to deliver a spectacular new album" but that "the band are delighted with the result" and that the album will be released later in 2008, possibly in October. Quinn says that the band wants to release the album before going on tour, planning to play smaller gigs "with any luck, before Christmas."
As previously reported the album was recorded through Summer 2008 in Hansa Studios in Berlin and Grouse Lodge deep in the Irish countryside with producer Garret 'Jacknife' Lee. Speaking of the new album, Gary told SP.com
"I'm so proud of this record. Everybody played out of their skin. Garret (Jacknife Lee) continued his progression from maverick genius to one of the best producers in the world. Musically, lyrically and sonically the best record we've made."

I was actually OK with their first big album (final straw or whatever it was called). They utterly lost me with the last album though. I'd venture to say they're like Coldplay-lite. That is a scary thought.

Heard this the other night & i dunno.. it's not gonna be seen as one of their best i'm afraid..it's gonna be their avacado i reckon, it's really gonna divide opinion. Joe Public is gonna go apeshit for it though, that's guaranteed. We know the lads in the band but i reckon they could've spent some more time with this. Still a good live band though.
