Simple question. Just trying to get a little positivity flowing in this forum. What have you done that you are proud of? Or even more generally, what are you proud of?

On Tuesday I bought a case of bottled water and a jumbo package of toilet paper which was sent to Ike victims in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It's not much, but it did make me feel good about myself.

Please feel free to share, even small things like I did. Brag on yourself. Whatever you wanna do.

Go!

:)

my parents and grandparents for:

Leaving the only country they ever knew to take a chance on a better life somewhere else, never to return to their country of origin again.

working their asses off their whole lives so their children could live better than they did.
For believing that girls needed to be educated and allowed to persue their goals just as much as boys, and not paying attention to the rest of their families when scolded for it (my grandparents were born in the 1800s, kids, this is monumental, in my opinion)

my parents specifically for putting themselves through college, master's programs, and law school in an era when very few did, especially women.

for going to war and believing in the ability of the US to make things better for the rest of the world and the ability of the US to do the right thing where the rest of the world was concerned.

And more importantly for understanding in the same breath that some wars are not worth fighting, some causes are unjust, and sometimes the most patriotic thing you can do as a citizen of this country is to stand up against the policies of your government when they are wrong...

for openly opposing racist practices, for teaching their children to look at character rather than color, merit of action rather than religion, and personality rather than nationality when it came to judging people.

For giving their children religion while making sure they understood the metaphorical importance of what the religion taught rather than the literal words and stories.

For prompting their children to be open minded, free thinking, hard working, to always try to understand things and people, to be hopeful and gracious towards their fellow man, and to be humble in their personal strengths.

My parents were and are awesome people, and I'm more proud of them the older I get. I could never be the parent either of them were and are to me.

Maybe it's not pride, but I'm happy to still be kind of sane after all I've been through. And I'm proud of my parents for sticking to their believes and chosing for love and honesty instead of money and respect from other (the wrong) people.

groetjes,
Mirella :)

I am proud to say I think I am a good father. My son is 14 months, and I manage to spend at least 4 hours a day with him while working and filling other obligations.
He is smart little fucker, and I know its because my wife and I spend so much time only focused on him (reading, singing, talking to him, playing)
I know this is all stuff that "should" be done by every father, but that just isn't the case. I get up every morning at 3am so I can be home by 3pm to be with my family for the rest of the night.
I am also proud of him. He is advanced beyond what all the books and sites say he should be.

I am really proud of all the kids I worked with at Sims Elementary and the ones I work with now at Texas School for the Blind. They have all had major obstacles to overcome and my life would be empty without them. This includes the kid that I am going to be a Big Brother to, and I am not only proud but also really happy that he wants to keep me in his life.

It's sad that I can't answer this question after 5 minutes of thinking about it.

I may be selling a painting to a pretty high profile client, at least high profile in my city at the moment. can't really say much else about that.

the last thing I was really proud of doing was graduating college. in a way iv seen that sort of dimened and diminished, which is kinda fucked up. but what can you do...

other than that im proud of possibly being able to leave dallas once and for all soon. fuckin hate the city.

Even though I have somewhat well-connected family members, I am proud of the fact that I found work without their help at all. I established a career on my own through hard work.

I am proud of being able to stand on my own two feet.
I am proud of where I work and I am proud of all the residents that we help.
I am proud of my commitment to living as simple a life as possible.
I am poud of my restlessness in settling on a particular religion, politial ideology, philisophical belief, etc. -always searching for truth.

And one time I took this poop so big it wouldn't flush. The log came out through the surface of the water and wrapped around like an eel. I'm proud of that too.

i sincerily don't know what to write here. it's not like i'm bitter or unhappy, because i'm not (most of the time  ). i do have accomplishments and people i care for and care for me, but for everything that i could possible list here there's at least one other thing that really concerns me that i should be doing something about.

On Friday, my new boss called me into his office and told me that I'm doing a really great job. He loves how I talk to and interact with the kids, and that even though absolutly everything is completely new to me, I jump right in. I've never, ever had a boss who bothered to tell me I was doing well. Felt pretty nice.

Some of the girls in the office said I was like a sponge, and that I do my job faster than the girl at the other ortho office who has been at it for decades. :D

And even with school 25 hours, and working between 17 and 22 plus WMMR gigs, I'm still carrying straight A's in school. So that's something, too.

As background - over the summer I started school for dental assisting, and an old friend from hs saw and invited me to observe a day at the orthodonitist she works at as a tech. He hired me right there on the spot part-time, even though I was only 2 months into school! I do all the pre- and post treatment records, and am learning other stuff already, too. Ortho was my first choice (Pediatrics a close second).

In 28 years of life, I can state with absolutely certainty that I haven't accomplished a single thing that has ever made me feel a sense of pride about anything. Its sad.
